Buy This Instead of Nyrius Aries NAVS501--Really!!!
I received the product in record time--just 18 hours from when I ordered it. But that isn't even the best part and I hope you will read on about my entire experience!About 2 months ago I bought a similar product, Nyrius Aries NAVS501. I was not thrilled with their user manual which was about useless. I also could never get their wimpy IR device to work. They did supply one HDMI cable but you really need 2--so I had to go out and buy one. The Nyrius items did not automatically pair either. While I did get Nyrius to work -the transmitter crapped out after 2 months. I searched the internet for information on similar problems with Nyrius and found plenty! But found few solutions and only one highly suspect video on You Tube done by a person who was given the Nyrius as a freebie to evaluate and it wasn't about troubleshooting. I sent an email for help and never heard back from them. So, I had to access their chat help line (which is only available during 8-5 weekdays and I am sure my boss wasn't thrilled to have me on the clock dealing with a personal TV issue). But, after 45 minutes of explaining and re-explaining by text I was able to convince them to let me return it to them for testing. If they find something wrong with it they will send me a new set. But, if nothing is wrong with it they will send it back as is. Or, I could have them send me a new one (in 7-10 business days) but I would have to pony up a $199 fee which would be refunded if something was wrong with the one I sent them (which might be returned in 14-28 business days after testing if nothing is wrong with it (but I assure there is!! ).Now, without a HDTV device, I started looking for a replacement. I searched and found this, also on Amazon. I am not sure that I saw this the first time I was looking but I have to say--this product is by far the superior in every way possible. First, the kit comes with 2 HDMI cables (Nyrius only supplies one); this has a color quick start guide (Nyrius has a black and white piece of useless paper); this system accepts multiple receivers (up to 4 in order to support 4 additional TV's) whereas Nyrius only pairs one transmitter and one receiver per HD device. There is a website prominently noted on the quick start guide which enables you not only to download a 33 page color user manual but also view various videos on how to do set ups, etc. so you can't mess up the setup. They even supplied a mini USB item with which to update the components using a thumb drive. This system comes as pre-paired set whereas Nyrius does not. This system also comes with a small remote to use to name the various sources and use for advanced functions and Nyrius definitely does not.Lastly, while most people won't be bothered by this, the Nyrius puts out a bright green light out the side vents which shows on the walls in the room where I sleep--and it would wake me up. This unit has no such Christmas light issues.I really wish I had seen this item the first time I looked. The price is better--the shipping is faster and the quality is much better. I will update this review if I need to. However, with all of the support, including a real phone number should I need it I feel that if I ever have problems that I will be taken care of.I sure hope Nyrius don't send me that broken Nyrius back but I don't really want a new replacement either! Either way I will give it to someone I don't like much--just to get it out of my house!Oh--the picture and sound are perfect and my room is now arranged the way I want it so I am no longer tied to the cable outlets!

Works great. Needs a bit of understanding and good placement.
This is a pretty nifty HDMI transmitter and much cheaper then its competitors. I have had the pleasure of testing it out for 3 weeks now and so far it has been a pretty good system after playing with it. I currently use this to transmit my NVR (Video Surveillance System) to my tv. This hdmi transmitter and receiver allows me to hide and lock up my NVR as well as allow me to view the NVR, configure it and view my cameras live as if my NVR was directly plugged into my tv via an hdmi cable. The best part of all is that both the transmitter and receiver have USB ports on it which can open up possibilities. The manual states it is made for firmware upgrades but it can do more. The transmitter has a mini female USB port and receiver has a standard female USB port. So I was able to use a USB mouse with my NVR. Simply purchase a mini male USB to standard male USB cable for the transmitter and then plug the mouse into the USB port on the receiver and your done. This can be very ideal for laptops and I don't see why you couldn't even use a usb data drive of some kind and transmit data wirelessly. But I have only tested it with a mouse. The mouse has a bit of a latency issue so it wouldn't be good for games but it could be used for navigating around a computer or menus. This device comes pre-synced so you don't have to sync the transmitter and receiver. However, if they become unsynced for some reason they both have a sync button on them. It comes with a well illustrated and color pictured manual so it is very easy to setup. For some reason, I could not get it to work in my entertainment room. I had it setup for testing where my Amazon Prime media box was transmitting to my projector in my entertainment room, which was only 10ft away through 2 walls. It worked the first time and then after I unplugged the devices to situate them better and plugged them back in it wouldn't work. After calling tech support and being on the phone for an hour the tech told me there must be some kind of interference in the walls between the transmitter and the receiver even though I knew there wasn't. Just hollow walls and since it was inside walls there was no insulation. Luckily that was just for testing purposes. I used it on my NVR and it worked with no problems. It is about 25ft away inbetween 1 hollow wall. Sometimes when I reboot the NVR I get a nasty green pixelated screen and the only way to fix it is to power cycle the transmitter and receiver but other then that it works as needed.Bottom line it does what it is supposed to do. It has a couple hiccups here and there and since hdmi wireless transmitters are somewhat of a new technology its going to happen. But for the low cost of this device and for my particular setup it works great.
