I think that’s the same one I bought and it quit working, had to buy a different brand.

I have not tried melting lead, bought this torch to make up new copper water line using lead free solder, but years ago prior to conversion to lead free solder I melted plenty of 50/50 lead. You should have no problem.

Hello, The one I got has worked flawlessly for months. I'd recommend just returning it to Amazon as defective. They are good about returns that are truly defective.

Q: Does this generate enough heat to loosen rusted nuts on bolts?

It will work, just have to hold it there a while to get enough heat into the nut. This is more of a household low heat nozzle.
