Great compass, easy to install and the backlighting really helps for night time cruises.
I bought this compass and put it on the top of my pontoon boat helm. I simply removed the cup holder and slightly enlarged the cutout with a file; the compass fit perfectly! Secured it with 3 small screws and connected the backlight wiring to a switch. Easy peasy - installed in less than an hour and it works great!

Nice professional compass
Compass is clearly marked and easy to read. I haven't tried the light out yet but if the other reviews are correct then I expect it should be fine. I've sat it in place where I'm going to mount it and haven't noticed any interference or deviation but I haven't mounted it yet so this could change. Feels like a good quality product. The workmanship and materials seem good.4/29/2020 - I mounted the compass a week ago and it looks great and operates good too. I have noticed that while I did mount it where it won’t experience interference, it does deviate if I set my laptop on the console. It isn’t affected by my cell phone or iPad as far as I’ve noticed. Still lovin’ it.

This is reasonably priced, works well, and fits in my existing hole from my 30 year old former compass. A good buy!!

Nice compass for a good price!
Looks like a great COMPASS but the 1 Amp fuse should be part of the package since it is hard to find it at Automotive stores or Walmart, they start all at 2 Amps. I just installed it on the dashboard of my Larson and used a 3 5/8" Milwaukee hole cutter because a 3 3/4" hole cutter as per the manufacturer's instructions is not easily available in hardware stores. The unit snugged smoothly in the 3 5/8" hole and I secured the compass with stainless steel machine screws and self-locking nuts from the other side to have a secured installation. I haven't yet tried it on the water but I checked it with the compass of my iPhone and it was matching, although a deviation of up to 15 degrees must always be taken in consideration (for both). I give it a 5-star rating and if it leads me to Mexico instead of Alaska, I will update the rating later on 😏. Thanks!

I had to enlarge the hole in my dash to replace the original Richie compass with this one, but after a little effort it's done and it's working.
