Radio from everywhere in the world, inside my house!
If you're a radio junkie who has spent a significant time in any variety of different places in the world, and the more you keep your ears open to great public radio, the more stations you find yourself addicted to. So far I've got a thing for CBC radio one, BBC radio four, WBUR and WNYC. Given that I'm not living in Canada, the UK, Boston, or New York City at the moment, It was definitely time to bite the bullet and buy an internet radio. I agonized over which one. I love British radios; I don't understand why North American radios are so ugly (ugly shapes with red numbers, ugh!) while British radios are all so universally adorable.I wish I could have got an Orla Kiely Evoke Mio at John Lewis, but those aren't designed to work in North America (so they tell me). My heart: broken. But I decided to stay with the Pure range in spite of the lack of kicky retro prints for the North American market, and chose the Evoke F4.It's still cute, even though it's only black. It's shiny black, and well-designed. It has no flashing red numbers. The digital text is readable in a chilled-out white, and it doesn't cast shadows in the night. It's a mild, faint light that assures you that it's on without changing the tenor of the room its in. It's not tiny, but not overwhelmingly huge; it fits nicely on my bookshelf, being it's functional self and unobtrusive self. It was very easy to set up. It has multiple alarms; I have a weekday and a weekend alarm, which sets not only which station to will come on, but at what volume, which is a nice touch. The sound quality is good. I've moved countries again but I can still wake up to CBC radio one Toronto's morning show, which is incredibly comforting. And I can catch The Archers when it airs on BBC radio four. And then listen to RadioLab. It's pretty perfect. It's got that snooze handle thing, which I'm sure is a great idea, it's just that I never snooze my radios. Not to say I always jump up when they switch on; I'm happy to doze and listen. So I can't comment on that bit.A few people have asked me why I would get an internet radio when I can just use my computer, but I think they don't entirely understand the full joys of radio. I want it to wake me up, for one, with decent sound. I want to switch it on when I get home and listen to it while I take off my boots and hang up my coat. I want to listen to it while I'm cooking, or doing laundry. Computers force you to sit down and interact with them. Radios are more ambient. The Evoke F4 doesn't feel like an internet device. It feels like a radio, like any other radio, except that it can broadcast from anywhere in the world.I bought two of them: one for my bedroom and one for my living room/kitchen. I'm so glad I got the two! The one in my bedroom wakes me up and gets me ready for the day, and the one in my living room entertains me on evenings and weekends. I sort of wish I'd bought a third so I'd have one in my office as well. That may come next. I would buy this radio again in a second flat. It's great.

worth it
It's an amazing streaming radio, it must receive hundreds of stations around the world, with the ability to choose the genre you prefer, and very easy to connect. It connected easily to my book shelf speakers and does not distort or diminish the reception/sound quality. My only complaint, and the reason I don't give it 5 stars, is the interface to make selections and return to favorites you select is very unintuitive, seems inconsistent, and, I find, augments one's ability to make mistakes. The interface seems very old school/primitive. However, once you find something, it's a terrific international FM radio for music.

Doesn't support SiriusXM
I bought this because Logitech won't support their Squeezebox/UE Radio. So Sirius worked for two weeks, doesn't now, and the company won't respond to my queries. The add still says Sirius works. On their website, the button that used to have a link to my SiriusXM connection has been removed. The screen interface is clunky reminding me of MS-Dos days. Otherwise the box and speaker are quality. Also, if you like preset buttons, this isn't for you.DON'T buy unless they fix the SiriusXM problem.

when it worked fine. Lately it has started dropping the connection on ...
Got mine a few months ago, when it worked fine. Lately it has started dropping the connection on different Internet stations, even at a close distance from the router. This makes listening to Internet radio far less satisfying than it should be, if not impossible. It cannot be the Wi-Fi signal, as this is strong as ever and none of my other gear suffers this problem. Tweaking the settings on the router does not help either. So, this one is going back to the shop where I bought it. Also, the user interface is a bit of a let-down. It's not very user-friendly and could be usefully improved. I do like the sound of this little radio, when it works.

First radio was way worse, But both have a faulty power supply that ...
Question. My first one bought from amazon would not power up when plugging into the back of the radio. The power supply plugin was loose and if you wiggled it, the pure light once in a while would light just for a moment as you were moving it just by touching it. I had amazon replace it. After three weeks now the replacement when the radio is nudged a little (pushing pause, touching for sleep, turning for volume, etc) it will reboot.it has been known to reboot during the night and start the last known podcast going again by itself. This is an indication of the power supply wasfaulty during a batch of manufacturing. Back to back from the same vendor (amazon). Was probably manufactured back to back also. Anyone have the same problem. To conincidental for me to have it back to back on radios. First radio was way worse, But both have a faulty power supplythat likes to short out.
