Whether you are a picture framer, a carpenter or a cabinetmaker the need for accurate mitres is paramount. This heavy duty trimmer is a substantial piece of machined cast iron, with razor sharp, tool steel blades. Using a long lever with a rack and pinion mechanism, it enables you to trim off fine shavings for the most precise fit. Its shearing action results in an incredible glass-like finish even on soft wood end grain. Look on it as a type of specialist plane, whose purpose is to produce precision mitres. There is no exaggeration as to the level of precision you can achieve with this machine. You are guaranteed precise mitres every time. Each fence has two adjustable cam stops, one at 0° and one at 45°. The fences are also lockable at any intermediate angle. This trimmer can easily handle picture frames, dado rails, mouldings and more. The maximum size it will handle is 90mm high by about 150mm wide at 90° or 98mm wide at 45°. For best results, cut roughly to size with a mitre saw or mitre box. Then using the Mitre trimmer take thin shavings until you reach the line.. Review: Very pleased - Solid piece of engineering does an excellent job. Very pleased Review: Brilliant trimmer, easy to set up use. Thoroughly recommended. - I am really impressed with this piece of kit so far and I have now given it a fair amount of use. The blades are super sharp and go through most mouldings like butter. The build quality is good and it is extremely easy to use and set up. The finish it leaves is a world away from using a mitre saw giving a perfectly smooth angled (or straight) end. The trimmer is heavy and I have not required to clamp it to the desk at any point and the smallest amount of material can be taken off easily. The handle is removable which is really handy as can be easily stored and stop any accidental knocking and trimming! There are a few minor negatives to this product which makes it loose its 5 starts and drop to 4. The first being the 45 degree stops that hold the metal angled bars in place sometimes slip, meaning that even with screwing the stops in place, they work themselves loose over time. This has happend to me on a few ocassions meaning that my 45 degrees are actually more like 41 or 42. I have found that simply checking the stops are in place each time resolves this. A small irritation, but an irritation all the same. The only other negative I can mention is the carry handle is quite thin and not very comfortable to use for such a heavy unit. All in all, a great piece of kit and a fantastic addition to my tool collection, I think I will get a great deal of use out of this before the blades require a sharpen.

Great guillotine.
This is a great guillotine well made and works really well, produces a great finish. Sadly had to mark it down as I wanted to buy the accessories advertised on the instructions leaflet that comes with it. You can't get them, contacted Axminster and they haven't had them for 3 years. Reason I was given was that they have to buy in bulk, so would not be enough demand to justify an order.

Extremely accurate and very sharp blades. Hardwood take some effort to cut depending size of moulding but the results are first class. Compared to a guillotine this is great value. Recommended.
