Cold Steel Chinese War Sword with Leather Scabbard,Black

I've owned the Hanwei dadao for several years now; and have long considered upgrading and purchasing the Cold Steel version. I was a bit unsure about taking the plunge after reading some of the negative reviews. However, I am glad I did. I find this a much better version that my Hanwei dadao. It is well balanced and solid. It had a good edge and the fittings were nice and tight. It is a bit heavier than the Hanwei, but I don't mind a bit. I read some criticisms of the leather scabbard, but actually, I was very pleased; it is very well made. I wish I had broken down sooner and bought this.

The blade was dull. For the price I payed it should've been sharpened. The shipping stated 3 days and it didn't leave the place until over the ship date. The delivery said three days and it shipped out with tracking # after I had to call and complain. (Shipped that day) when the tracking # came through. It said delivery date between 12/5 - 12-13. Not what I was expecting from the 3 day Shipping I payed for. Overall I had to buy a sharpening stone and do the sharpening of the sword my self. Now it's very sharp. The tip was bent like it had been dropped on concrete. Had to file it down to get the edge shape back so it could be sharpened. Your only as good as your word! If your in business,don't misslead customers with shipping. We all have jobs to pay for the stuff we order. Don't have time to set for week waiting for my order. Will not order from this business again.

Luckily I had an original to compare it to. But I could tell right away by the fake leather sheath compared to thick leather on the original, that something was wrong. Then I picked up the sword and had no doubt. The new sword was 10 ounces lighter than the original. And that's with the plastic and grease still on the new one. It almost felt like a toy sword compared to the original. If this is not a counterfeit and it's what they are selling now. I do not recommend it at all. There are much better options out there.

Not much more to say. It is awesome, with great feeling and heft. Sharp outta the box, though a bit greasy! Love it!

This is a great sword, it fits in your hands you know this is a real sword. Some have said it is heavy in the hand but I find it is well balanced. Though expensive by most people's pocket books, it's worth the money for those who want a real sword not a decoration. Some of those cost just as much or more.

This is a decent sword that measures up well to the videos presented by Cold Steel.Price was great, delivery time was outstanding and the product looks and handles very well.My only complaint about this product is that the blade edge is softer than I expected and required some minor straightening after heavy use.I would recommend the purchase of this item, through Amazon. Too expensive for what you get if you order it from Cold Steel, but well worth the price I paid through Amazon.

I just received this Cold Steel Chinese War Sword. The guard is loose. It wiggles around. I'm very disappointed. It makes me feel that this sword would be unsafe to swing around because of the the way the cross guard moves. There are also scratches on the blade itself, as if it had been used to chop at something. It doesnt feel like this item is brand new or I was sold a "factory second" sword.

When you take the sword just under the blade then it weighes almost nothing, it feels pretty balanced and most importantly it's quality steel :D
