Liquid Rubber Polyurethane Deck Coating - Textured, Misty Grey, 1 Gallon

Yes so far the product is great. The issue I had was it was sent by the liquid polyurethane company in their box and repackaged by Amazon, the Amazon packaging did not say to keep it upward and many of the cans showed up leaking and a mess and others were sent back before reaching me and it took me over a month to get reimbursed. The product is great though., not so much on the shipping. It took an Amazon representative to get me reimbursed after over a month..

We tackled an old deck which is covered with 1x4 tongue-in-groove fir strips using, yes, some board replacement, but mostly securing here and there with screws, surface cleaning, priming with Woodlife Classic, caulking with Loctite PL Max Polymer-based Gray (medium bead, pressed in and smoothed flat with putty knife), allowed 48 hours to dry, then opened the liquid rubber, stirred it, and began applying it with a 4" brush. Wonderfully thick! This stuff has not been diluted! It spread out and sealed perfectly. Applied a second coat a day later. We used (battleship) grey, and we miss the original color of the fir, but we're very happy with what seems to be a very good result!

Buyer beware! Not as advertised. This is a horrible product and is definitely not as advertised. The first problem is that it arrived leaking from the lid of the container, causing a huge mess inside the box. However, the main problem is that it pours out thick, but is very thin and almost translucent once applied. Followed all directions for preparation and application, but there is very little coverage and no rubberization whatsoever. Applied 5 coats and it still looks like a light stain. Wasted an entire weekend trying to make this work and now we’ll have to go purchase a different product and start over. Huge waste of time and money! This product deserves a negative rating but I was forced to give it gave it one star because it would not allow me to post review without a rating. 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

Love the stuff

Ill give them 5 stars for now. I decided to change my deck color from dark brown to a lighter cream color, so I ordered 4 gallons, it was delivered with no problems. I came up a bit short so I ordered another 4 gallons. After a few days I got a message saying it was delayed, and a few days later another saying I was getting my money reimbursed, so I ordered another one. A few days later I got a box that looked liked it was used playing fork lift hockey, and it only had an empty bucket in it. I called Amazon and they had me return it and refunded me, and I ordered another. Several days later another delay, then a refund. So I ordered ANOTHER one. Several days later it showed up, no box, but it had been dented and roughed up but the seal was still solid. The product and the support thusfar have been stellar, Ill wait until all the refunds etc have cleared before I finish this review, The seller and product have 5 stars, the refunds and delivery will have to wait. Nut if all stays the same, they will enjoy that rating also, even aside the forklift hockey games

Our deck is only four years old. It's crap. The builder used substandard materials, and the expensive and time-consuming stain we put on it three years ago lasted less than a year. We have debated pulling off all the crappy-quality redwood and cedar and replacing it with composite materials. But we don't have the money for that this year, so I did some research to see if I could find paint that would turn it into something resembling a composite deck. Well, this paint did the trick! I can't speak to its durability because I'm still in the middle of my paint job. But I can talk about how easy it is to apply and what a great waterproof barrier it creates. This paint is thick. It's so thick that it doesn't drip off your brush or roller. And you would think that thick paint would be a PITA to apply. But it isn't. It goes on SO smoothly. I used a brush for most of the railings (I hate painting railings!!) and a brush for the primer coat on the deck, followed by a roller. I used a roller with a thicker nap, which gave the decking some texture. I really like the way it looks and feels. It isn't slippery in the least, and it doesn't burn my bare feet when I walk on the deck in full sun. I did three coats of Liquid Rubber on the rails themselves and six coats on the top of the railing, as well as six coats on the decking. I want to make sure this paint lasts as long as possible because I'm 65 with a bad back and bad hips, and I do NOT want to do this again! Another great thing about this paint is that it cleans up so easily. Given how thick it is, that really surprised me. When I first started looking at this product, the color I needed (which matches my siding perfectly) wasn't available in the five-gallon buckets. So I waited, and a few weeks later, it was and I snapped up two buckets. The color is perfect. I would be willing to bet that by the time I'm done, someone could look at this deck and never know that there's cheap, crappy wood under that beautiful paint. One last thing. I ordered two five-gallon buckets and only received one (the second one got damaged during shipping). I contacted Liquid Rubber, and they rush-shipped another bucket to me the same day. What a great company and great product.

Ordered this 2 times and the first time it was great. The second time it leaked in the box and I was told to return it for replacement. Can't return what is missing!! Just ship the pail with out a box so the driver doesn't throw it around and knows it is paint.

So far so good. This stuff seems pretty amazing on wood. I used this on the outside of some garden boxes and they should last a long time now. The primer was like water and rolled on pretty easy however this stuff is like pancake batter and I found it hard to roll so I brushed it on. Two coats was all I needed.

It's a good product. Many years ago I used a wonderful product called Spantex (Spandex??) Rubberized Deck Coating that was a hypalon product, solvent carrier and it had to be thinned with Xylol. That stuff was amazing and I built a cedar hot tub out of planks, coated it with the coating and it never leaked. Well I think because of that solvent being so user unfriendly the stuff is now water clean up and I didn't want to use it. The chance to use a Canadian product appealed to me so I bit. This Liquid Rubber seems to be very good. I've finished the project. I'm very glad that I went around the perimeter of my newly sheeted deck with the roundover bit and ran this product down the sides. A few points: If you're using the textured product for a base as I did with 5 coats it's difficult to get an evenly distributed application of the texture particles. I had actually hoped they were going to be crumb rubber but I rinsed some of it off and found they are actually crushed glass. It's tumbled so it's rounded like grains of sand. I think these will prove to "kick out" of the base over time but that's what's in the product. The instructions advocate using a textured roller and that didn't work. It would simply blob on the product and not spread it around so I ended up switching to a 10mm pile roller sleeve and that worked fine. Still, rolling the textured coat leaves unevenly distributed texture particles, especially where you overlap your lanes. You can get the hang of it eventually and the more coats of texture you put on, 5 in my case, and the more top coats of non-textured product you use, 4 or 5 in my case, the more even the surface looks. I still don't like the look of mine all that much but it's extremely functional and really durable. Imagine you have a roof over your deck. Imagine you have a 2x6 on the eave of that deck, screwed on by each end. Imagine you remove one screw, trying to hold the 2x6 and it plunges down on one end, smashing into your freshly finished job. Yup, I did that. I went down imagining the new LR surface was going to be badly gouged. It wasn't. The plywood itself was dented to the depth of about 3mm but the LR coating was intact and unbroken. The textured particles had been pushed off but the surface remained intact and waterproof. I was pretty impressed. So, just bear in mind there is a bit of a learning curve here. It's a great product and very likely to stand up to it's 10 years hopeful life span but it's not like just rolling on paint. You have to develop a feel for it. I've read negative reviews here on Amazon but I'm guessing that those are from people who perhaps can't quite develop the skills for using this new product and ended up with a job they weren't happy with, all because they let themselves down. I honestly don't think it's the product. I used a full pail on my 14' x 16' deck and got 5 coats out of it. The non-textured product goes a good deal further and I have already used the remainder for 2 other jobs around the yard. Buy this stuff with confidence but be prepared to experiment with it a bit. Oh, buy the primer and the geotech fabric as well. It will make the job go better.

It it super easy to apply, it look like whipped cream. It cover well, and looks amazing when its dry. I put two coat and I believe it to be enough.

After speaking directly with the manufacturer, my opinion of this product improved significantly. The product itself is excellent, and I am very pleased with the overall quality and final results. One recommendation: don’t purchase this product through Amazon if you can avoid it. Shipping costs and delivery times can be frustrating, especially on the West Coast. Instead, I strongly suggest contacting the manufacturer directly. They were extremely helpful and were able to direct me to local distributors carrying the product in my area. They also advised that additional distributor information will soon be added to their website. For anyone using the Geo-Textile seam tape, be aware that the seams can remain visible through the finished coating. The manufacturer acknowledged that additional product should be applied over the tape to better feather and conceal the seams. This is something I hope they continue to improve in future product recommendations and instructions. Overall, the customer service was outstanding, the manufacturer was responsive and helpful, and the coating itself appears to be a high-quality product. My only frustration was that it took contacting the manufacturer directly to discover there were better purchasing options available than Amazon.
