DEWALT 8V MAX Gyroscopic Cordless Screwdriver 1-Battery Kit, Electric (DCF680N1)

Picked this up to replace a similar Ryobi unit that I’ve been using for RC hobby use. I chose upgrading to the Dewalt because the Ryobi has an internal battery and no clutch.It is not a torque monster, don’t expect to drive or remove 3” wood screws all day...but it is almost perfect for hobby use. The clutch is very good and goes low enough even for M3 screws into plastic.The gyro mechanism is very slick and intuitive once you run it a little while and figure out the little quirks there. The ergonomics are better than my Ryobi and I’m very happy with battery life. The bit holder it comes with is ok but I quickly removed it because of clearance issues. The light is very nice because it will illuminate hard to see spots even with typical work lighting. (See photo for with & without).Overall I’m very happy with the purchase. The only thing I’d like would be a hi/low gearbox for that additional torque or speed selection. But the sum of all the other features outweighs that single drawback.

My husband put this on his wish list primarily for the extra torque provided by the 8V power vs the typical 4V that his Black and Decker has. Further, the Black and Decker usually lasts about a year before it gives out. This screwdriver definitely has more power. It remains to be seen how long it lasts. He didn't even realize that this screwdriver has an advanced function. Rather than a switch to change direction of the turn, this one has a built in gyroscope. You press the trigger, then turn the screwdriver in the direction you want it to turn. The more you turn the screwdriver, the faster it goes. It works in any position (horizontal, vertical, or any angle). He LOVES it.

Have several electric screw drivers from the $50 and under with high reviews from Amazon. I mainly use these for the RC hobby but home too. This is the best powertool I have bought in a long time. The slipper clutch is next level and you will never strip plastic, wood, metal and etc. The gyro is awsome and was a pro from day one and insures you wont be on the wrong direction ever. Build quality solid, light solid and the gun to streight change mechanism is well solid. The locking mechanism for bits is the standard pull sleave forward to release you see on impact drivers but well on a screwdriver. Overkill in a good way. The best electric screwdriver by a wide margin from Milwaukee and etc. If willing to pay $100 for the best, you won't be disappointed.

I really like the DeWalt line of tools. I have several different brands for different projects, and DeWalt is in that line-up. The ergonomics are very good, feels solid. I purposely purchased this screwdriver due to the fact it can be changed from a straight tool to a tool with a handle. I have already used both modes for my line of work. I purchased this for my business use on computers. The adjustable speed by turning your hand one way or another is great. I wanted a tool that wasn't as fast as some of the screwdrivers, like my very fast Makita older version, and this fit exactly in that line. It's nice to have the bag. I put labels on mine so I know what tools I have in each bag. I purchased two different packages of this screwdriver, each having different accessories.

Great e-driver. Good torque, great torque settings. On lowest torque setting this screws in plug/switch wall plates perfectly. Highest torque setting will drive 2" wood screw into old wood stud framing with a little work, about what I would expect for such a tool. Any more you would want to use an impact driver anyway.This tool has nice finesse, I think better suited fo mechanical, machine, electrical work rather than most word applications. Happy to have it.Docked one star simply because the cost of single batteries is outrageous! I was unable to get a two battery kit for $99 and paid $89 for the single battery kit. A solo extra battery runs $28! This e-driver and a small flashlight are the only dewalt tools that I know of that use this 8v battery pack, making buying many separate batteries a bit of a hard swallow.

I have had the Dewalt cordless screwdriver for a little more than a month now and I am very impressed with it (so much so that I'm taking the time to write a review). I initially bought the less expensive SKIL cordless driver but it's battery only lasted 6 months. This Dewalt screwdriver has made my drill almost obsolete. It has great torque; the battery lasts a long time on a single charge; and, given it's size, is easily stored and grabbed for a quick job around the house.

I purchased this 8 V drill and used it several times now and it works amazing. It has plenty of power. Works great for doing electrical work and small jobs. Very happy with the product.

I love this screw gun as this thing makes putting together PC's easy and simple. Not more twisting away over and over when all I have to do is just twist in the direction of loosening the screw or tightening it. Its brilliant and affordable! for such a little device it has so much power behind it and I really appreciate the quality and power of Dewalt's product. The light built in is great especially in tight spaces of computers or other items that need screws loosened and tightened!Do not hesitate to but this because i is really portable and useful in many industrial and non industrial ways.
