This a great little camera
This a great little camera. I was going white water river rafting and wanted to bring a waterproof camera for pictures and needed an inexpensive one in case it went overboard and down the river without me. This little thing did the trick. It took excellent pictures throughout the 5 hour trip. The pictures were clear and well exposed. To address some other peoples concerns, some of their blurred pictures could have been from not taking the protective film off the lens. It's easy to miss so make sure you do that. Also if the lens gets wet, you need to dry it off and clean it a little. I just used the T shirt I was wearing. As for as battery life, I used the same set of batteries the whole day and took close to 40 pictures. There was still plenty of life in the batteries at the end of the day. I did turn the flash off because it was daylight as the flash can use up some battery power on any camera. So turn it off if you don't need it. The menus are easy to use and reviewing the photos is a snap. It is waterproof, but you will want to get a floatation device for it just in case. Waterproof, but it doesn't float. Overall, well worth the money and the quality is much better than the price would lead you to believe.

Don't waste your money if you want to take pictures indoors!
I purchased this camera as a Christmas gift for my 5 year old daughter in 2015. She used if for a few months but pictures were not good quality. I realized that the camera was defaulting to Force Flash Off each time the camera was turned on which would be fine for me but my daughter was not going to remember to turn the flash on each time she used the camera. It was too late to return to Amazon so I contacted Bell & Howell support. They confirmed that this was a defect with the camera and to return it and they would repair or replace it. I mailed the camera back in March of 2016. A few months later I received a phone call asking what the issues were (even though I have explained in a note). After many phone calls I finally received the replacement camera in September of 2017 - 18 months after I sent it back. When I turned on the replacement camera it also defaulted to Force Flash Off but had been told that once I switch to Flash On it should then default to that option when the camera is turned on. Unfortunately, with the second camera when you press the flash button it just shows "Force Flash Off" with no options to change the flash mode at all.I have called but not been able to get in touch with their support again but now am stuck with a camera that is actually worse than the first one I received.

Great camera!
Bought this for a trip to a waterpark - it worked great! No problems at all. I bought some Duracell Quantum batteries for it (it takes 2 AAAs) and they lasted through two days of picture and video-taking and are still going strong. You do need to buy a micro memory card for it as well. Was very durable, we took it down slides and swam with it underwater quite awhile. Then, our son played around with it afterward at the hotel pool, taking photos and videos as he jumped in over and over. I was so impressed at how well it functioned, never any issues with it. Photos came out nice as well, although I can't really give a good review of those, as we were just taking pictures for fun, not for documenting underwater wildlife or anything. The photo I'm putting on here was taken with the medium-quality setting, but there are higher-quality settings as well.

Mediocre camera, but good for the price and features
My wife wanted a waterproof camera we could take to the beach without fear of damaging it. I couldn't find anything with really good reviews without spending closer to $300, and that just wasn't an option. For the price, I think this is a decent camera. We have not yet tried it actually underwater though.Photo quality is not very great, but I have seen worse. Dynamic range or contrast is not very good. If the subject is in motion or the camera is shaking while a picture is taken, it can lead to an odd looking image. My guess is it is a "rolling shutter", so it is scanning down the sensor as it takes the image rather than one full freeze-frame. Most times you don't see it, but a few images came out slightly odd looking. The viewfinder is kinda dim and pretty hard to see in full sun. Battery life seemed OK, so far only used the set of cheap batteries that came with it. Swapped them out for a set of Eneloop rechargeables when they went dead. Didn't last a really long time, but seemed long enough for casual use...as I recall, they lasted most of our week at the beach.I seem to recall other reviews saying they couldn't get the battery/memory card door open. It is kinda stiff and tricky...just takes a little practice. If you use it at the beach where it is sandy, be sure all the sand is gone out of the gasket area before closing it, otherwise I can see water easily leaking in.Not being willing to spend big bucks for a good underwater camera, I think this one is doing a fine job for what we want. For real photographs, I have a nice digital SLR!

Faulty battery door
Purchased this camera in advance as a birthday gift for my husband for our upcoming Hawaii trip... opened it tonight and the battery door absolutely won’t open. Unfortunately it looks like I just wasted $100 :(

Camera was okay..:
I only give this a 3 star review because I found it to be very slow when trying to take a picture. As well it's hard to see the screen when under water or even on the beach. I would suggest just spending the extra money for another underwater camera.

You get what you pay for!
I bought this camera to take with my family on a trip to Great Wolf Lodge. It was affordable and I wasn't too concerned about top quality or top performance. The other reviews were accurate about the camera having little glitches but it did the job for me.One thing that was frustrating: sometimes it says that there were no pictures on it and no room for any pictures to be taken so you must turn it off and back on. Not a huge deal unless you are trying to capture a candid shot!I loved not having to worry about getting my phone or regular camera wet as I would just bring this!I reccommend this to those on a tight budget but still wishing to have a little underwater fun!

This camera is a piece of junk and a waste of money
This camera is a piece of junk and a waste of money. The picture view is foggy, the buttons are confusing and the camera itself eats batteries like crazy! After taking two pictures, the battery died. We are extremely displeased with this item and it is too late to send it back! So frustrating!
