WOW - very nice
My daughter is 3 and likes to beat on things. I got her some drum sticks and this. She likes it, and so do I. It is really well made and durable. It is a little heavy, but not too bad. It looks like a real snare top connected to a wooden block. It really feels like playing on a snare drum. For anyone needing to practice such as marching band players get this.. you will not be disappointed. - Again this is for practice. It is not a full drum.

Great practice drum
Please don't waste your time with an electric drum pad - this is so much better! The real shape of a drum, but less expensive, more portable, and not as loud.

Nice head feel perfect practice noise of medium base is cheap mdf not on the go portable
Not silent but not loud - I don’t really care about noise level as there’s no one in my house to bother it probably the perfect for practicing but if you want silent it’s not completely and I don’t think how hitting something with a stick could be. Material of head is great. Lost one star and low portability due to cheap mdf bottom arrive and already had a small crack in base. Didn’t effect it and could tell happened during handling so no fuss but not something you can take everywhere kind of has to stay in your practice spot and that’s it

This product + Remo Silentstrokes!!
This is perhaps the most cost effective and realistic practice set up. The head that it comes with is obviously very loud so i recommend picking up something like remo silent strokes. Great value!!

You get what you pay for
I paid $20 bucks and that was too much. The base is made of pressed paper, which is as strong as you'd expect. You cannot tighten the head enough to get a rebound that's anything like a snare drum, concert or marching. If you're on a budget and don't need rebound then this is for you but you can easily spend a few more bucks and get a smaller pad that feels better when played. Returning for sure.

So good I bought two!
I have a bunch of hard rubber practice pads and they have served me well over the years but I needed to work on controlling stick rebound on a more drum-like surface. So when I saw this pad I bought one and swapped out the head for Remo Silent Stroke (the mesh skin reduces the sound by 90%).I turns out that the pad has an amazing rebound, is much quieter than a regular pad and gives my hands a solid workout. I still use my other pads but for muscle-building and long repetitive exercises I find the Tosnail pad to be much kinder to the hands. I ended up buying two and and I may buy a third. Highly recommended.

Great for beginners
I am re-learning the drums at 51 years old after a 30 year hiatus. I love this pad and have been beating the heck out of it. It has a much better stick feel than a rubber pad. Better bounce and true feel. Works very well for learning rudiments and stick feel. Great value.

Good product, worth to me!
I bought it knowing it was louder than other practice pads. It's got a nice little pop to it but I'm using mine as a snare for a 2 piece "rehearsal/quiet" travel drum kit and its perfect for my needs. However if you're looking for something quiet, then I suggest using something rubber, this has a real drum head and is almost as loud as a drum with your hand on it.Seems they have updated this pad and it now has foam rubber on the bottom to help keep the sound down on the floor and also wont scratch or slide on a table or floor. The drum shell is not attached to the wood base and will need to be centered if you take all the lugs off.The head that comes with it is decent but will eventually need to be changed. Any head including mesh/silent heads can be used but the rim will still sound the same with mesh heads.Be aware the volume of this pad is much higher than that of rubber or plastic. Its stuffed with foam on the inside which cuts the volume down but can still be just as loud as a real drum. For drummers that are interested in using it as a trigger. It's an excellent platform and easily modified to fit internal or external triggers. Not all triggers will fit the rim but it could but cut to fit if necessary.Sturdy, cheap and effective! Well worth it to me!Update: been using this for a good little while now, I've been using it on a practice/low volume drum kit paired with some low volume cymbals for giving lessons, and honestly it's done fairly well. It does detune after about an hour or so but has held up pretty well overall. The foam can be removed but I prefer it's in the for volume control and it give it move of a "pop" sound, I use mine as a snare for a 2 practice piece kit.

The BEST practice pad you can buy
As far as bang for buck goes this is hands down the best practice pad. Because its not a "pad". Its an ACTUAL drum head. Think of it this way: Its a snare where the resonance chamber is sealed, with a solid 1 inch chunk of wood on the bottom. The walls of the drum connect right down to the solid wood base, which seals in the resonance. So it plays and feels like a snare, without the reverb or "pop" (and obviously without the chain/snare throw)So what this means is there's nothing better to practice on except for a real drum. It plays and feels exactly the same way because you're playing on a real, tensioned drum head. So you get all the bounce and responsiveness you would get from a real snare. This makes it much better for practicing than you'd get from a rubber practice pad. On this thing, you can actually practice doing snare rolls and other stick-bouncing techniques that you normally can't practice well on a rubber pad.Keep in mind its not exactly "silent". Its a real drum head so it makes some noise. If you wanted it to be quieter you'd need to replace the drum head with a mesh head (which is possible). But as long as your room mates /family / neighbors are OK with a slightly audible banging sound during your practice time, then its hard to recommend anything other than this. THIS is the way to practice.

Looks like the photo
Looks like the photos. Mine came with some paint worn off already but it is a practice pad so I am not bothered. Works as expected.

Way too loud
This is not silent at all, will have to return and get a mesh one at double the price
