Phenomenal
God rest the soul of our beloved saint and mystic! Someone commented that this was a "second volume." It's the second volume in a collection of works by St. Edith Stein ranging from autobiographical to theological not the second volume on women. Read and be inspired

Powerful contemplation of womanhood.
I purchased a hard copy of "Essays on Woman" after reading some of it on ebook a few years ago. I wanted to finish it, "unplugged."Well. Edith Stein, aka Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, brings her towering intellect to a Catholic understanding of womanhood- a feminism which is not defensive but celebrative of femininity; not of opposition to or competition with men, but equal in complementarity to men; nor defiant of God and Church, but in submission and harmony and joyful union with The Lord.If you have appreciated Pope John Paul II's writing on Woman ( Mulieris Dignitatem, Theology of the Body), you will find that he borrowed much from Edith Stein's works. It's not light reading, but worth the effort.I appreciated the fact that this paperback copy was shrink-wrapped to protect the corners during shipment. It arrived in perfect condition. Thanks for that.

A new woman in my life
This is an amazing book by a writer that I had heard of but never read before. Her insights into womanhood will not be appreciated by the fanatical feminist, of which there are not many, but other women will love these writings. Personally, I think that I as a man have gotten the most out of this book because it speaks so logically and intelligently of the nature, the heart of woman, and as a man I have treasured many women in my life, however, now I treasure them all the more. To attempt to speak of either woman or man and pretend that there exists no spiritual and religious side to them, or to a certain hard wiring of our brains to love and appreciate each other as a counterpart without which we are incomplete, is horrifically shallow and too many books attempt this. I need to get more of Edith's books and learn more of her life and martyrdom.

A brilliant theologian
St. Edith Stein’s essays are marvelous treatises on the dignity and vocation of women. They are a must-read for all women of faith.

A mental Workout 🏋️♀️
There are some gems in this book but I wouldn’t call it an easy read. it was a bit like going to the gym in the morning when you’re first getting started, not easy. It’s arduous and parts I still don’t quite understand what she is saying. So in short, worth it but no cake walk.
