I've been an Ott Light fan for years. I bought this hoping to use it not only as a floor lamp, but as a table lamp. The light is great, as expected. Magnifier works really well, especially when I'm doing applique. Make sure to keep track of all the part they send with your order. I misplaced the connections to use when I changed it from the floor lamp to the table lamp. I was really frustrated, until I found where I'd placed the screws needed to connect the top of the lamp, to the very heavy base. Now the light is on my sewing table & is just what I need.

I bought this light for my 91 year old Mom who loves to embroider.The floor lamp seemed a little too tall and the neck didn't seem to put the light in the right spot for her. We ended up removing the bottom post, unscrewing the threaded inner part of it and screwing it into the bottom of the top post so it would be half as tall, then set the light into that as normal. It ended up being the perfect height for her as she sits in her chair. If the neck of the lamp would have been longer, it would probably have been fine, but the flexibility of it was not enough that she could place it to use comfortably. It was nice we could configure it work perfectly. She loves it and will probably use it daily. It's heavy enough to be stable for her, but not too heavy that she can't move it around to suit her needs. She can see great with or without her glasses using it. The lights are nice and bright I plan to get one for myself now for handwork and quilting.

I purchased this light for my mother who has macula degeneration. This light is fantastic! It helps her function when doing small tasks or crocheting. The only issue I had was the base of the light was chewed where you connect the poles. It didn't hinder the functionality of the light or assembly. However, for the amount of money spent on it, you would think the light would be in pristine condition. That's why I gave it 4 stars.

My wife loves to knit and her current project is a winter hat made from black yarn with a burgundy pattern. She was having difficulty seeing how her pattern was developing because of the lack of contrast. She has used OttLite products before and loves the true tone colors and sturdy construction. I grabbed this model for her because it can switch between a floor and desk model. Quality is up to OttLight standards and contrast issues are gone. The magnifier is a terrific aid for general work and a higher magnification inset lens lets you get down to a detailed view.Good value for the money and great light. If you need any help with handwork in terms of light and magnification, OttLite should be your first choice.

My husband seems to like his light. It is easy to assemble and the fact that it can be on its stand or used as a desk lamp is very nice. It is nice and bright.

Great light with nice versatility. You can make it a tabletop or floor light. The light is very bright and the magnification is perfect. Downsides- the goose neck does not bend down enough to get the mirror over your lap. It bends at an awkward angle. If you say, sew in a comfortable chair the angle may be difficult. I t needs a 350 goose neck instead of a 180. The bubble magnifier on the glass is useless and distorts. They don't need it. My eyes are very bad and the full magnifier glass is more than adequate. I can thread the tiniest bead needle with ease. The light is the real hero here. Just perfect. I haven't used this as a tabletop light yet but I would think it would be easier to move it to the right position but it might be too tall to bend the neck just so. If you do any beadwork you will want this. I don't think it would be quite as functional to read by. I use my hand held glass that is more movable and user friendly.

I bought this lamp for my sewing room, to use over the sewing machine. It works wonderfully and has a magnifier built into the area around the light. The base is heavy, so it will stand straight and not fall over, and the neck is adjustable so you can move it around over your work. I like this lamp and am glad I bought it.

This is a great light - I use it for beadwork. I do wish the up/down on the neck was adjustable, but it's still an excellent magnifying light. I have a small desk-size lamp I've had probably close to 20 years that still works just fine - the Ott brand is top-notch, and well worth the money. I'd buy this one again in a heartbeat. It does make beading a lot easier on my getting-older eyes!

I love this lamp! I bought it so I can see my puzzle pieces clearly. It works like a charm. The light is bright, the magnification is great. If one thing could be improved, it would be the attachment for the base. Even though it's snapped into place, if I move it (to have a closet look at my work) it has a tendency to come loose.

This floor lamp is great for sewing however I move it from the desk to the sewing table and the top portion pops off. It should be secure. Other than that it functions very well.
