This is by far the best stain I have used so far.I applied this with a sponge brush and it gave outstanding results. It is so easy to apply and re - coat.I have never used a stain that is so forgiving in respect to the application, brush directions and going over it again when it is still wet make no difference, when it dries and it does so very quickly it leaves an unblemished uniform finish.I was staining light oak to black and this took a lot of coats to achieve the shade of black I wanted, but I didn’t find this a problem as the coats went on so easily and dries quickly between coats.Unlike other stains i have used you can literally go over areas that you have just stained and it doesn’t matter at all, it just soaks into the wood leaving a perfect finish. When using the foam brush I noticed it left a few tiny bubbles in some areas, so I went over the area again while still wet, but it still left a couple behind. I decided to leave them to see what it looked like when dry. It dried to a perfect finish. I thoroughly recommend this product and will purchase again.

I applied the stain with a foam brush and got good coverage in two coats. Looks great under polyurethane varnish.As an aside, the bottle is good quality and gives confidence that it won't leak (unlike some others I've had).

It was perfect for white washing oak furniture. It took the ‘orange’ out of the wood.It is a great product, but it pretty much is water and paint. So it is expensive for what it is really. But great for someone like me who is lazy and didn’t want to mix it myself

Have used Littlfair before & never disappointed. Colour is perfect & ease of use & finish is a dream.Brushes etc easily clean via water, dye soaks in, not many coats needed. I used one as that was the depth I needed. Very little used so value for money.

What a brilliant wood dye, easy to apply and a first class finish. Highly recommended

This water based stain should work well on untreated wood but if you have previously used any kind of wax or oil based stain, polish or any such treatment the stain will not take well and you will be left with areas that are dark and areas that do not take any stain at all. It is best to avoid this stain in these situations. I made a mistake and have learned a costly mistake.

I purchased the French oak for my oak breakfast bar. It goes on really well, I did it with a sponge. I put 4 coats on to build up the colour I wanted. It dries quick and to a dull finish. Finally I varnished over it. I have varnished good on the pics, but will sand and put a final coat of satin on. When you varnish it, it really does bring the colours out, it looks beautiful. I would recommend this as it soaks into the wood and is not patchy like some products I have used thst just sit on the wood and eventually scratch.

I get tired of using the stains that are offered in the hardware stores. I did a little research and got this which comes from the UK. This stain is great! Easy to use, cleans up with water, and doesn’t smell awful. i finished it with walnut wax and my table looks great!

Suggest avoiding this if you are looking for something that complements the structure of the wood.This just a very flat stain that leaves the wood looking dead and monotonous. It doesn't nourish the wood either. Don't see the point.

Really easy to apply with a sponge and results in a smooth, consistent colour. Medium oak on the bedframe photo, some varnish applied as well. The medium oak was a tad lighter than expected (light oak on the left and medium oak on the right in the photo). Not a bad thing as it gives the wood a slightly warmer look than the light oak without becoming too dark.
