It does make a low noise but it's not an annoying noise. I would recommend.

I really like the features of this laptop cooler (Chillmat Plus). There is a ledge along the bottom to hold the laptop when tilted up, The tilting mechanism seems easy to use. And, there is a built-in usb hub.There are a couple of details that I wasn't particularly fond of, but they weren't deal breakers. The usb power cable is permanently attached and the grid that the laptop sits on is plastic rather than metal.I ended up returning the pad because the fans did not come close to lining up with the vents on my laptop, so the temperatures of my laptops processing cores was not improved at all.

I needed a fan mat to keep my 14-inch Dell laptop from overheating and this Targus 17-inch Dual Fan Chill Mat fits the bill. I originally sought a switchable independently powered (not through USB) mat, but I found I could power this one from a USB port on my external monitor which is powered by an outlet strip. Since this mat has no switch (not sure that any of the other fan mats do), I power off by switching the outlet strip off. Regarding noise, its not too loud but you can definitely hear it. I keep the mat on the top of my desk and do not use the tilt feature, so I cannot comment on that. The ports on the mat line up reasonably well with the ports on the bottom of the laptop, so the fit is good in my situation and cools the laptop. The mat is thicker than I like (about 1 5/8 inches), some of the thickness needed to accommodate the tilt function that I dont use, but its not a big problem since I dont actually type on the laptop keyboard but use a separate keyboard.

I purchased this cooling fan and it worked great for the first 4 weeks. The fan started making a grinding sound, which progressively got worse. If you messed with it and turned it on and off a few times, you may get it to stop. Sometimes by adjusting the height, the grinding would stop. Finally it got so irritating and I couldn't get it to stop, I started looking for a replacement. I only had one port working on my laptop and really liked the idea of the extra port hubs and being able to adjust the height, I didn't have many choices that was in a realistic price range. Thinking "I" may have caused the chill mat to grind, I ordered 2 more of theses fans, one for myself and 1 for my husband. My fan made a grinding noise the minute I plugged it in, but my husbands didn't seem too have a problem. By going through the same solutions, I could unplug mine and get it to work.....until I moved it. I finally was going to return both of them, and Amazon wouldn't take them back because they only have a 30 day guarantee on computer products, which didn't make me very happy and I did leave feedback saying so. I threw both fans in the trash and ordered 2 of the LotFancy® 12 - 17 Inch Laptop Cooling Pads and have not had a bit of trouble from either of the fans. I would highly recommend the LOTFANCY cooling mat!

I have had one of these for years. It worked great but finally wore out so I bought this one. It is very very noisy. Was going to just exchange it, but there is no option for exchange. Only return and they want to assess it to see what kind of condition it’s in before they give you a refund, which would be fine because it’s in the condition I got it except for the noisy fan. It was advertised as free returns so has Amazon change their policy were free returns are no longer free returns. Maybe it’s because it came straight from Office Depot, but that was not representative on the ad . It would be nice if you’re going to use bait and switch return policies on you if they actually send you a product in good condition that works properly.

Item was about as described, but running solely on the USB power, the fans aren't quite as powerful as advertised. The quiet fans don't really put out that much cooling power. If you have an overheated laptop, you don't want someone to blow on it, you want a blizzard fan to get it cooler much more quickly.The item SHOULD come with the optional AC adapter (sold separately, of course, for more than half the price of the cooler pad alone) to provide the appropriate amount of power necessary to really keep a PC chilled. In addition, the USB cord (USB to mini-USB, to plug from the PC USB port to connect to the pad for power and activate the USB hub) is on the short side. My working USB port is on the left side, and the mini-USB connection on the pad is on the rear right. It wouldn't be so bad if the cord were maybe 2-3 inches longer - then it wouldn't feel stretched to its limit.Last issue is with the features which hold your laptop on the pad. My laptop has a curved front edge, and the lip on the front of the pad barely holds the laptop in place. The rubber pads on the back of the pad don't really grip that well, and my laptop too easily slips around, making for an unstable working surface.I will say that I love that this has the 4-port USB hub. I need the cooling pad to keep my laptop cooled, but only one of my 3 USB ports on the laptop are functional. My headphone jack went out, so I'm using a USB Sound Card adapter which occupies the single working port. With the additional hub on this product, I was able to expand and use BOTH the cooling pad via USB along with the USB sound adapter card and not have to purchase a separate hub to allow for it.

I had the older version of the stand, but the new one here is even better. Lightweight, various stand heights will not move off the stand. The front hinge keeps your computer stay put. Even more is included.

The product survived shipping in great condition. However, it developed a rattle in one of the cooling fans within a couple of months of use. Other than that, it works great. My son has one for his computer and has used it for years without any issues. Could be just an infrequent issue with mine.
