Color Zoo Board Book: A Caldecott Honor Award Winner

The fun colors and geometric shapes make for great reading. The chunky book is wonderful for little hands! We spent hours examining the shapes and looking for even more inside the incredible graphics.

My grandson quickly learned all his shapes from basic to hexagon and oval.I was disappointed his board book did not have the page found in his library book that had all the shapes on one page good for quizzing.

This is a great book for learning about shapes, colors and animals. The cut-outs in the pages that change the animal shown on each page are really clever and add an element of peek-a-boo for little readers. The bright colors and simple shapes plus the simple text ("rectangle", "ox") really make this a good book for self-exploration by babies and toddlers, although it is fun and interactive when adults read it to babies as well. This is a classic every little library should have.

I love reading this book to my pre-K students to help them learn different geometric shapes. It’s a really fun and colorful book. My only complaint is mine had extra repeat pages in it.

This is by far one of my all time favorite books and when I figured out that there was a board book version I had to have a copy for my children. The board book version is very sturdy and works well with toddlers. I have gifted this to family as well and they enjoy all the colors and shapes as well.

I bought this as a gift for a very young person-- actually for her grandmother. This to me is an unheralded classic and a book which should be in every toddler's bookshelf. Ehlert's work is brilliant in its simplicity. This book has cut outs which reveal different animals and you open the pages. The brilliance is that the cut outs are various geometic shapes and colors. So the child is being taught not only shapes, colors, and animals, but new ways of viewing and creating art using these basic shapes and colors. I also highly recommend Growing Vegetable Soup and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.

This is a great book to have in the classroom. I had one in my classroom last year. It was loved so much that it got ripped. I wanted to buy another one to replace it. It is great for teaching colors and shapes to the kiddos. It also help the children to recognize the different animals that the shapes make. What a fun book to have! A classic concept book for young children. My young children have enjoyed learning shapes and animals from the book. The cutout designs are clever and very colorful. I never thought my daughter would recognize a hexagon or an octagon before a square!
