Carhartt... Who's Carhartt?
Boy oh boy, was I skeptical about ordering PANTS online. I wear a 35 x 30... yea, I'm kinda built like a brick... a not-too-tall brick, so I never buy pants without trying them on first. So I was more than a little pleasantly suprised to find a pair of extremely well-built, comfortable, and well-fitting cargo pants that even look pretty good on me. (I say pretty good cause, lets face it, with my body type I'll never be in an Old Spice commercial) I got several comments on these jeans the first day I wore them to work! (Yes, by women...)I thought I would point out a few things about these pants that aren't mentioned in the Amazon description:The Best!If you actually do some PHYSICAL LABOR at your jobsite, you most likely wear a knife with a side pocket clip. I usually put mine in my front right pocket in the corner. I have lost count of how many pockets I have worn completely out, and how many good knives I have lost, by constantly taking my knife out and putting it back to that spot. These pants have nice piece of leather in that exact spot!!! And its not overly thick so my knife is still easy to take out and put back in my pocket. Truly Awsome! The pant sizes have more variety. What I mean is most pant sizes go from a 34" waist to a 36" waist... I have always been cursed with being right in the middle. The 34 was a little too tight, and the 36 was just too baggy. 35" is just right! Riggs is made by Wrangler so maybe that is how all their jeans are. Whatever the case my be, Thank You!I have owned several pairs of Carhartt cargo work pants... I don't want to say anything bad about their product, because I really do believe they make a great pair of jeans, BUT... Their pants have always been tailored to a slimmer build, and there are a lot of guys like me who will just never fit into that particular cut.Has anyone out there ever spent more than a few hours bucking bales of hay? If you have then you have probably worn out the thighs of either the right or left legs, maybe both! These pants are DOUBLE LAYERED over the thighs. I haven't put them through the ringer yet, but I believe these pants will take a lot hay bales before they will even come close to wearing out.Minor conThe only thing I have that is not completely complimentory about these pants are the pockets. I love the number and placement of all the pockets, but the front hip and rear pockets are very deep. This is more a personal preference than any real flaw in the product. A lot of it has to do with the fact that I ALWAYS where a watch, and it makes it a little awkward to dig into my pocket. I also cary a golfers wallet (yea, I'm an enigma) so its also a bit of an adjustment digging it out of my back pocket. In summary, I really can't say enough great things about these Riggs cargo pants. I feel like a was stretching a little bit about the pockets, but I base a lot of my Amazon purchases on customer reviews and I thought I owed it to everyone else looking for a product like this to give as much information as I could. (And I hope my spelling was close!)

Great Fit
I bought two pairs of these pants for my husband for work. He's a professional gardener, so he needs pants that are durable enough to hold up to dirt, snags, and all sorts of rough use while also allowing him to have a good range of motion and flexibility. These pants seem like they will do the job. He has not worn them to work yet because it is the off season for him, but the material seems much more durable than his other work pants that kept ripping. As the person who has spent countless hours patching and repatching his work pants, sometimes on a weekly basis, extra durable fabric is a must, and the reinforced knees (mid-thigh to mid-calf) are a wonderful, added bonus (a gift to myself, really). He also was able to sit, bend, kneel, and squat comfortable in them. The legs and hip areas were loose enough for comfort and range of motion, while the waist (38) fit perfectly. I can't really comment on the fit of the waist compared to other pants because he has lost 25 lbs since we bought his last pair of pants in a different brand, so I had no idea what size he was when I ordered; I just bought a couple different sizes based on my best guess. They seemed a bit long when he first tried them on (he is 6' 3", and I ordered the 36" length, his normal pants length), but the length was perfect when he had his work boots on. For color, I bought one pair in black and the other in loden. They are both nice colors that seem perfect for hiding dirt stains. I have to return the loden because it is too big (size 40), but I will replace it with one in the same color.UPDATE 4/11/2018: Since I left my first review, I have ordered four more pairs of these pants because they are so comfortable and durable. He now works on a landscaping crew that gets contracts fixing people' yards after the electric company has dug them up, so he's hauling a lot of dirt and often gets on his hands and knees installing sod. He also sometimes works with the tree crews to clean up brush, so his clothes are often getting snagged by tree branches and sticks as well. He only has six pairs of these pants, so each one has been worn about once a week (sometimes more) for over a year now, and they're barely showing wear. There are a some tiny spots on each pair where the fabric looks a tiny bit frayed or thinner than the surrounding fabric, but nothing worth getting my sewing machine out yet. Most of the spots are on the usual areas, like the hem or on the double knees (still my favorite feature). Some areas of the pants are a bit faded (knees, mostly), but that's the least of our concerns. He says the pants have been very comfortable in all aspects of his job, though they do get hot during the summer, but he figures he's going to be hot regardless while working in the sun. In the winter, he wears a pair of long underwear from Eddie Bauer underneath for extra warmth. As the person who does the laundry, I can also say that they come pretty clean from the wash as well, without much effort on my part. I use about 2/3-3/4 of a cap of laundry detergent (versus half a cap for a normal load), and I don't fill the washer up as much as I normally would. I do give them a pre-wash sometimes if they're literally caked in dried up mud, but that's it.BTW, for those wondering about the "Dirt Drop Vents" on the double knees, when you're working in dirt on your knees, small dirt particles can work their way through the fabric and get trapped between the fabrics of the double knees, so it's good to have the small slit of fabric to get out any trapped particles. Just make sure to shake them out before washing, or else you end up with mulch and small twigs in the lint catcher of your dryer...

these are great work pants..thinner than previously
these are great work pants.. they have made the material thinner than it was a few years ago.. still ripstop.. Time will tell as to whether they hold up as well as the previous version from a few years ago.. But good pockets, good reinforcement. Hammer loop to small to be usable, so it just snags on stuff. Belt loops are barely big enough for a 1" webbing belt with 1.5" metal cobra buckles...

Great for a mechanic/laborer
I got these for my husband to wear to work as he’s a mechanic. I started ordering the pants two years ago and they’ve been great. The majority are a khaki color, which is a great work pant color. The problem started when work got busier and he was working on more machines, meaning he’s coming home covered in grease/oil stains. This past order I decided to have him try the black pants so the grease and oil stains wouldn’t be so apparent on the pants. It worked! We’re wild on the black! The reinforced knee is 1000% necessary and has held up so well. They’re much more lightweight than I expected. They fit my husband perfectly. I just ordered his usual pant size; 34w x 36L. (6’3” tall and 180lbs.) Highly recommend for anyone working as a mechanic, field mechanic, or anyone in labor work. I’ve done a lot of research and made a lot of purchases, and this is by far the pair we always come back to!Also, we’ve put them through the washer (sanitize cycle) and dryer twice per week for several years and they’ve held up wonderfully. Highly for their durability and comfort.

Awesome pants
Wore them for a while, I do metal fab so welding and grinding sure makes up for moving around and tight spots. These feel great while I'm hunched over or running around projects. Lots of room to move and sturdy

Se siente la calidad de la tela. Van dos veces que cambio la talla porque viene reducida (yo soy 34 pero tuve que pedir 36).Fuera de eso, es un pantalón muy cómodo.

good pair of pants
A little bit large in the waist, but that's not a problem because I own a belt.good quality, it's held up so far through a few rougher days and haven't had any issues with them yet.
