Good taste and texture
Really tasty, good chew, though the exact flavor is hard to describe; a bit sweeter than a traditional jerky.

I wanted to like it
I am not vegan but wanted to replace my salty heat addiction with something animal friendly. This was my first foray into vegan jerky, and the reviews were great. I was excited to try this but when I opened the bag, ripped off a piece and put it in my mouth... After a few chews I spit it out. For you, I am going to do it again so I can accurately describe the stuff. Then the whole bag is going in the trash. Tis review is for the Spicy flavor. Before ingesting, it has a leathery texture. You have to rip the pieces apart with two hands. It smells like sweet licorice, which makes sense since sugar is the second ingredient. Licorice powder and fennel are also ingredients.I tear off a piece and slowly chew it. The texture is good. But the odd spice combinations of licorice and cinnamon and sugar are undeniable. The ginger lends a tiny tiny bit of heat at the back of the throat, but I would have opted for red pepper or Chipotle or something. It does contain black pepper and chili powder, but I can't taste either. It is very very sweet. It has soy sauce as an ingredient but the salt is smothered under the sweetness.Okay, I swallowed. Not taking another bite. I hope this helps you. If you are vegan, this may be totally fine. If you are looking for a meat replacement product, I'd keep looking. Just the only thing I liked was the texture. The choice of flavorings was bizarre for what I expected. Maybe if it were branded as a teriyaki or something I would not feel that way. But for me it was just gross. And I *do* like black liquorice and fennel. Just not in this format.

Best vegan jerky
BeLeaf Vegan Jerky has quickly become my top choice among plant-based snack options. Having tried various brands and flavors of vegan jerky, I keep coming back to BeLeaf for its exceptional taste and texture. What sets BeLeaf apart is not just the quality but the variety of flavors they offer. While all their flavors are enjoyable, the spicy version stands out as my personal favorite. It delivers just the right amount of heat without being overpowering, making it a perfect snack for anyone who loves a bit of a kick. The jerky’s texture mimics traditional jerky surprisingly well, striking a great balance between chewiness and tenderness. It's flavorful enough to satisfy cravings, yet light enough to enjoy without guilt. In fact, I’ve enjoyed it so much that I’ve already recommended it to friends, and many of them have become fans too. The combination of delicious taste, multiple flavor options, and plant-based goodness makes BeLeaf Vegan Jerky a snack worth trying. If you’re on the lookout for vegan-friendly snacks, this one is a must!

Very good, but the cost is too high
It's a very good product, at first I thought the flavor was a little strange but once you eat enough it becomes very addictive. The texture is also really nice, though it is very tough so if you're not into that then don't buy this product. It's drier than other brands which I prefer. My only complaint is that it's a bit messy. The way it's made, little flakes come off the jerky as you're eating it. You pretty much have to try and get a whole piece into your mouth to avoid this. It would be nice if they came pre chopped into smaller pieces so you could do this, but a lot of the pieces are too large and need to be torn. I ended up doing the tearing inside the bag, which was a bit tricky. With all that said . . . the price is way too high. I am use to paying premium prices as a vegetarian, but $11 for a bag that last a few days is just crazy. I think $5-7 is about the most I'd be willing to pay.
