Q: I am not familiar with installing these things, but do you need teflon tape?

Yes! And wrap it around three times. I also like to put a thin coat of liquid Teflon (another plumbers' supply) on the threads before I put the tape on. If you need to use plyers to tighten the swivel wing nuts be sure to protect the wings with a cloth before gripping with the plyers.

Q: Just returned HD's version of this because it cut water pressure by 75%. Any experience with this item and resulting water pressure, please?

I did not notice any change in water pressure, but it did eat up one of the rubber washers when I installed it and I had to buy a better quality (tougher) washer.

Q: Will the "elbows" hold a double shower head with a rainfall and handheld head?

I have a rainfall shower head which weighs around 9lb. This shower arm cannot hold that at all. Maybe lesser weight it will be able to. Also, you have to consider the weight of the water when the shower head is filled up. In that case my rainfall head weight will go more that 9lb.

Q: Why are so many of the reviews for this product apparently about entirely different products?

I don't know, but I have purchased and use this particular product. I would recommend it to anyone who needs to raise their shower head or extend it out towards the middle of the shower.
