Give New Life to Your Old PC
I have a desktop computer that I built myself using an ASUS P8Z77-VLX motherboard. That motherboard is 12 years old. However, I still like this computer. I had previously upgraded it to Windows 10 and to the maximum 32 GB of RAM and wanted to know what else I could do to prolong the life of this PC. While browsing Amazon, I came across an Intel Core i7-3770 Quad-Core Processor 3.4 GHz 4 Core LGA 1155 - BX80637I73770 (Renewed). After doing a little research, I concluded that this CPU was compatible with the motherboard on my PC. Furthermore, given that it was renewed, the price was very reasonable. Given the inexpensive price, I had nothing to lose by trying this CPU and everything to gain. I am not a PC expert, just someone who experiments from time to time. That's what I did when I built this PC. It has served me well and is still performing. I like to work with many windows open, so I have surround display, using multiple monitors. Over time, leaving many windows open tends to cause a drag on the computer. Upgrading to the maximum RAM helped, but I wanted as much speed and capacity as possible. A brief search on YouTube provided me with an instruction video on how to install the CPU. It required removing the CPU cooler, changing out the CPU, and reconnecting the CPU cooler. The whole process took about 10 minutes. Since upgrading from the previous i5 CPU to this i7 CPU, I have noticed a significant difference in PC performance. The upgrade cost me about $60 because the CPU was refurbished or Amazon Renewed. Lastly, upgrading from the i5 CPU to the i7 CPU did not require a Bios upgrade because the computer was already running the most up-to-date version of the Bios. So, if you've got an old PC like I have, and you want to continue using it for a while, it's worth upgrading the processor, especially if you can find an Amazon-renewed version available. For a small investment, you can get better performance and give new life to your old PC. I definitely recommend it.

Nice upgrade - happy with it!
My H61Z motherboard had a 2nd gen CPU (i5-2400) and I wanted to give it a little more “spark”. This did the trick for just a couple of bucks. I was a bit skeptical of a renewed CPU, but no problem. Boot time substantially reduced. Wish I had put a stopwatch on the old CPU to give data….------------------ UPDATE -------------------------------------Had occasion to upgrade a Lenovo 3227 (M92p) from an i3-3220 to i7-3770 and used one of these refurb'ed CPU's for the task. Worked fine. Nice price.

Good value and works fine
First, this chip is a $65 “refurbished” unit and does not come in a box and does not include heat sink paste which I purchased separately. Since I have an older MB, I was stuck with a gen 3 chip. It was a worthwhile upgrade from my i5 and did improve my frame rates but make no mistake, this is no where near the power of even 12th gen i3, but for me it was worth it as I did not want to upgrade my MB, PS etc. YMMV

refurbished I7 well worth the price
This CPU worked great from the start. Slight glitch in the installation being I was replacing an AMD board with a Gigabyte express board, so I got a "bios is corrupt and needed to install from a backup. It figured it out on its own, and continued with the install. Lot's of updates as the computer hadn't run in a couple of years, and I am running with just 4GB of ram, but I'm happy to have my old programs back and it was a cheap fix. Hope this helps.

Works as expected.
Well it did bring the computer back to life, but it will not pass the Intel frequency test. But it still works.

Perfect Fit and Function
Simple remove and replace. Installed in an HP 8300SFF Computer. It is much faster after the i5 was replaced. The CPU looked new, (I know it isn't), came in a plain box but was in an antistatic bag. Be careful that you don't throw the packet of thermal paste away when you open the bag. It was included with my chip and contained just the right amount. Cheers!

Collecting dust. BIOS flash not possible so far. HELP!
Drivers that are needed to flash BIOS for qflash update aren't available anywhere. I am on the first version i believe. The updates on gigabyte service website start at like number 4. I assume it won't let me flash because i don't have number 2 then 3 then 4 and so on.... It is collecting dust after I broke my rig down to swap it out then put the other processor back in to look for the updates I think would help it to do something other than black screen and spin the fans...HELP!

First experiance buying a used processer, was very good overall!
The processor arrived quickly, it arrived well packaged and undamaged. I received it a few hours ago and I am already using it to write this review. I am very pleased overall with this experience.I replaced a i5-2500k (which served faithfully and stayed in the race on my mobo for like 12 years!)The price was affordable to me (I honestly was hoping for less) I don't think I would have spent any more than this to upgrade this old intel gen 2 & 3 board (ASUS P8H77-v), however upgrading the CPU unlocked the p-cie slot to 3.0 at 16x versus the 2.0 at 4x it was with a gen 2 CPU. The result means that the graphics throughput increased from 5gt/s to 8gt/s. I doubt I will even notice these increases however I am pleased to have the fastest processor installed that this board was made to run.
