Hoppe's No. 9 Lubricating Oil

Picked this up as part of a complete cleaning and maintenance setup alongside a cleaning kit and mat. It’s the classic Hoppe’s oil people have been using forever for a reason. Bottle was easy to use, oil applied cleanly, and it worked exactly as expected for routine lubrication and maintenance. Good consistency, good coverage, and no surprises. Simple, reliable product that does what it is supposed to do.

Why am I even reviewing this when there are already a million other reviews. It's good stuff. It gets the job done and is inexpensive to boot. I can easily pour it into my dropper bottle which is nice. It keeps my gun functioning smoothly.

I had been using a bottle of glycerin-based lubricant that was originally meant for competitive yo-yo enthusiasts but is nearing its end after 20 years. This stuff is very similar. There are lubricants for metal-on-metal machines, plastic-on-plastic, etc. When you need to lubricate moving parts that have both metal AND plastic composites, this is the sort of lubricant that you need. The price is very fair, the bottle is equipped with a very robust needle and cap, and is small enough to bring with you to the range or to a photo shoot. I personally use this sort of oil to keep lenses working smoothly and for applications where a non-toxic oil is preferred over lithium or petroleum grease. Oh, and it does not smell and is easy to clean up if you spill some.

Works very well. Easy to use. Not very greasy and no leakage from the bottle. Wide use of this gun oil very versatile I use it on guns,knives, even swords and strangely enough stuck locks and hinges.

I’ve been using Hoppe’s No. 9 Lubricating Oil for a while, and it’s honestly one of those products you don’t think about until you really need it. It goes on smooth, doesn’t feel sticky, and really keeps my firearms running well. I like that it protects against rust and makes everything feel smoother when I use it. The bottle is easy to handle, and you don’t need much at all, so it lasts a long time. It’s simple, effective, and reliable—exactly what you want from a good gun oil. Definitely one I’ll keep buying.

This is the Best gun and knife lubricant for the money. I have unique knives that have to be lubricated. They also must stay lubricated 100% of the time or my knives will basically become useless and worthless. I have spent years and thousands of dollars on both knives and guns. I keep them in two huge lock boxes or gun safes. I keep the temperature and humidity at the perfect position. They are incredibly important to me because of the types of name brands, the amount of time, effort required to obtain the perfect piece and the amount of money that I’ve spent in acquiring and maintaining each piece. This also includes keeping the pieces from corroding or rusting. I have tried using several different oils and as my collections grew, the larger the amount of individual pieces required more time spent on lubricating every single item in both collections. After many different versions of oils and lubricants I was using, Hoppe’s number 9 worked better for my purposes than the other top knife and gun oil. A very close second is Liberty Oil which I believe is worth mentioning because it has been my second choice for years. I have used this oil for about 5 years on specific projects, mainly for my pocket knife collection and my firearms collection. It has been great for my needs and I have an excellent access to the product via Amazon. Whenever I catch this on sale or my supply is low, I ll order several bottles for not only my firearms, but I also use it for my large folding knife collection as a knife pivot and blade lubricant. I’ve been using HOPPE’S # 9 in orange 2.25 fluid orange bottle. Usually I transfer the oil from the manufacturer’s bottle into my personal bottle with a dispensing needle for precise measurements and parts that require oiling. However if you use occasionally, the bottle cap that Hoppe’s has provided will be perfect for 99% of anyone’s needs. I keep a full bottle on hand for when I need a great “ALL IN ONE” oil. It’s labeled as a gun oil but the weight of the oil is basically or the same as a good Sewing Machine oil.

Funciona excelente tanto para dar mantenimiento preventivo, así como también re acondicionar mecanismos con piezas metálicas (como navajas) en mal estado. Lo he utilizado tanto en navajas suizas como con navajas de alta gama. 100% recomendable.

Ya conozco el producto por llevar utilizándolo varios años. Buena viscosidad, suaviza cualquier tipo de movimientos entre metales. El fabricante conoce bien su oficio.
