No, it is a petroleum based oil, and is flammable. Therefore it cannot be used on air rifles.

good question J-man and to give you a honest answer i really don't know because i have never used Hoppe's Lubricating Oil on nothing but guns, but i am not saying that if the only thing i had was hoppe's i would use it just to see what kind of it would do on my knives,wish i could give you a better answer but that's all i can tell you,Thanks for the question.

I'm not really sure. The gun oil is a higher viscosity (thicker) oil than I would think you would want for a bicycle shifter but then again it might be good for a longer period of time. I would just be worried about dirt build up due to it's thicker properties. It's your call.
