gotta get 1
Excellent & best tool ever owned/used for all garden/landscape/digging tasks. I got 1 decades ago for metal detecting, never got to go and used it for other. Never sharpened & solid workhorse. Misplaced it for few hours and ordered another, thought lost! Now 2nd, clean up/sharpen/oil the old one. Perfect for weeds/bulbs/other & working in rock/fabric/ground.

Buy!
If you dig then of course you need a Lesche! Great price and lightning shipping and of they carry the left handed serrated blade for us lefties! Iv broken many Lesches in 15 solid years of relic and gold hunting but out of any hand diggers, the Lesche is by far the strongest.

Best digging tool for metal detecting!
I have used a Lesche Digging Tiil now for over 15 years. It can not be any better! It is tough and just can not be broken. I know because I am a big guy and I have actually stood on it while trying to dig in my very hard ground. If you want a great digging tool, get this one!

Beats my garden spade
Like a lot of people, I bought this for digging stuff up for metal detecting. You dig a "plug" out of the grass and lever it out, then search for your find. this allows you to return the plug afterwards, and if all goes well, there is minimal damage to the grass and no one can tell that you ever dug there. This tool works like a dream. It is not stainless steel, so it will rust, but I clean mine and give it a light coat of WD40 after every use. It is very sturdy and comes with moderately sharp edges (I sharpened mine more with a flat file). One small gripe - the red rubber grip came loose and would slide off the handle, so I epoxied it on, and it is on there for good now. Seems a little pricey, but if you are going to use it a lot, it is well worth it. I also use it to dig up weeds in my yard, and it is awesome for that, too.

A Must Have Landscape/Garden/Nursery Tool
A really well made tool that it right at home in a gardener/landscaper's tool kit. A real digging machine that is built to last. It isn't as sharp as I expected but is easy to sharpen. It comes in two versions, each having the serrated side of the blade on a different side. That's a personal preference choice. My personal view is that most people will want the serrated edge to the inside of their body while holding the knife palm up in their hand. So if you are a lefty you most likely will want the version with the serrated edge on the right side of the blade. The hand guard and having the blade offset from the center axis of the handle are great features. The scabbard is nice but I only use mine for overnight storage after my end of day tool cleaning. The knife is way too covered with soil during work time to put into the scabbard (IMO).

These things are every bit as good as they're touted
These things are every bit as good as they're touted. They slice through sod and grass like a knife through butter. Sturdiest digger I've ever used. At first I was put off a bit by the cost -- they're not cheap. But I would be very surprised if I ever needed another. The serrated edge is awesome for cutting through small roots and the first couple inches of sod. It cuts very clean plugs. The sheath isn't much to write home about, but it works fine and serves its purpose. If the time / need ever comes, I can purchase a leather aftermarket one. It was hard to figure out mentally if I needed the left or right-side serrated blade, and now that I have it, I'm still not sure - LOL. I tend to want to dig in both directions. Maybe a double-serrated blade would be the best. In the end, it doesn't matter much - both sides punch through without much effort. If you're sitting there wondering whether you should pull the trigger & buy this, I recommend you do. I can't foresee ever using a general garden trowel again.

Top quality digging tool -- came through my first weekend of heavy use very well!
Seems to be a quality digging tool for my new-found metal detecting hobby. I took it out for a weekend, and it performed very well. I only had one instance where the tool bent somewhat, and I was prying a very large rock out of the ground with it -- so I won't hold that against the tool. I wish the sheeth has a slot for my pointpointer, or probe on it -- but overall it seems to be a great quality carrier in itself. My only complaints are that the digger sets off the detector if you get it too close (Wonder if a brass one would work as well?), and the handle could be slightly more comfortable when you're digging for extended periods of time.

Indispensable gardening tool
After losing my Hori Hori knife AGAIN I thought I would take a chance on this one and am so glad I did. This is far more useful and efficient than a Hori Hori. Cuts deeply, cleanly and EASILY into the hardest, clay packed soil. Can remove roots of the most recalcitrant weeds w/ease as well and it's no problem getting deep into the dandelion roots. Can easily move soil as I would with a small spade to set in my seedlings. I'm close to 50 and my wrist isn't what it used to be and have found this tool so much easier to use than others. Truly does dig deeply and easily. By the way I am right handed and the serration on the left side is perfect.

Solid tool. Makes digging super easy and clean. I'm glad I made the move away from the gardening trowel. Worth the coin

For the extra money this trowel is the best by far. It has chrome in the steel making it stronger and more corrosion resistant. That is what you're paying for. Replace 2 or 3 cheaper digging tools and you could have bought a Lesche!
