Surface Pro users note that 45 W (15V at 3A) is a tall order and you probably need a new GaN charger
If you are a Surface Pro instead of a regular surface, you get to deal with Pro power requirements. I had to upgrade to a 15V-3A PD GaN charger, which is probably what you want anyways if you're like me and trying to ditch the bulky adapter and live that single-travel-charger USB-C lifestyle.Don't expect your underpowered 15V-2A PD battery to respond to a Surface Pro while the device is running. Mine didn't. A 15V-2A charger might respond, but using while charging with an underpowered supply causes that weird problem of your trackpad cursor/touchscreen jumping all over the place. Upgrading to a 61W Ravpower PD charger (which can switch to 15V-3A) works perfectly. For the record, the 87W Macbook charger cannot into 15V because Apple only uses special voltages for some reason: 20.2V, 9V, and 5.2V. The cable is smart enough to "I'd rather not break your surface and macbook charger" if you try to plug that in. I'm pretty sure a few of the negative reviews are along the lines of "this cable didn't tell me it was preventing damage because I used an incompatible charger."

Get this over the OEM cable
EDIT UPDATE- My charging cable still works after 9 months of daily use in a backpack and in and out of a car charger. I am buying a 2nd one because the indicator light stopped working (sometimes it comes on) but this has not affected being able to charge or charging speeds and I will update if the cable breaks. Still the best cable I have found. Will use the new one and keep the older in my car.So my Surface Laptop was just replaced with warranty because I was going through a power supply every 5-6 weeks and was swapping them out also with warranty. And I still can't keep a power supply working with the new computer. M$. This cable works and is not $80 like some others. And while I just got it today I will be sure to say something if this one breaks but already it "feels like higher quality. I will be happy if it lasts 9 months but the OEM one is to be avoided.

FYI - Absolutely does NOT work.
Absolutely does NOT work. Will not work from any USB-C source whatsoever. Not a plug, charger, nor high powered usb-c Anker. No problem with the seller. :)Just dont think this can trickle charge your Surface.

Using with Anker 40W+ USB-C chargers
I bought this cord because I have multiple Anker USB-C chargers that are capable of charging laptops, and the cord is working well so far with my Surface Go 2. Charging speeds seem faster than via USB-C and the laptop doesn't warn me about slower charging speeds, making me suspect that the Surface limits charging speed via USB-C.Given my experience, if you have reputable, higher wattage USB-C chargers, and want to save money/space over official Microsoft Surface chargers, or don't want to take a chance on mystery brand 3rd party Surface chargers, this cord is for you.

Works with my Surface Pro (2017) just fine
This lets you use the MSFT version of the MagSafe port on the Surface with a USB-C PD port. It works fine, and has a little light on it to know you are charging, just like the factory power adapter. It disconnects when you pull on it just like the factory one too.Note that you have to have a relatively high-power "PD" port to plug this into. The little basic USB-C charger that came with your phone likely doesn't have enough zip to power the Surface. The main reason to buy this is so you can pack a single power brick when you travel, you don't need to pack a separate adapter for the Surface and another one for your phone, headphones, etc.I would rate the cord length as adequate, but certainly not exceptionally long. I think the factory adapter might be slightly longer, but the difference is negligible. So just like with the factory adapter, you need to bring a small extension cord along if you want to be sure you can easily plug in your computer almost anywhere.

Works Great
Works great with the proper charger, and a better option as well IMO than get another stock charger as it's more versatile. The only thing I found is that if you have a "smart" charger that limits output to other ports based on what's plugged in, this will fool it whether you're charging a Surface or not. I'm guessing it's due to the circuitry to force charging voltage and light up the charging light. It's easy enough to unplug when not in use though. Thoughts for an improvement would be having a slightly longer version.

It fits the computer
I could not get it to charge the computer.

Didn't work with my Surface Pro 7
Bit of a bummer. I tried a few different chargers, and no luck with any of them. Doesn't mean this doesn't work with other models or set ups, but mine didn't like it.
