Scholastic Success With Reading Tests, Grade 3

I bought a couple of these workbooks for my daughter who is behind in reading and I found this to be a great supplement. Mainly I use it for reading practice and I can make sure she is reading because she has to answer questions. Then I can tell if she understands the material. So I find these books very useful for busy parents and I bought even more today in different subjects. The format is straight forward and therefore kids can do them without much guidance from parents. With the use of these books I found that my daughter has trouble with questions involving sequencing, so I was able to help her with those and she is getting that type of question correct now.I don't agree with anyone who would give this book 1 star because it is too easy. If it's too easy, buy a higher level. A 1 star is for a complete disaster, not just because a workbook is too easy for your child. Use the look inside feature to get an idea of the level before you buy. That's what it's there for.

My son is a reluctant reader and has scored poorly in reading comprehension and vocabulary on standardized tests. I asked him to do one test a day during summer vacation (this book contains 15 tests, so it's only 3 weeks of weekday work). At first he was upset that I was making him work. But now (week 3), he actually gets the book out before I ask him. The reading passages are short and interesting. He usually gets 100% correct, which helps his confidence. The vocabulary sections really help to expand his vocabulary. I have no idea if this test corresponds accurately to the standardized test he takes at school (the Iowa Test). But I am happy that it reduces his anxiety regarding test-taking, shows him that reading can be fun and interesting, and improves his vocabulary skills. I plan to continue using these test books each year.

LOVE this book!!! I use it as a whole group activity to practice test taking skills. The class can work on it independently as well.There are many important skills addressed in each test. The passages are not too long. The material is very interesting. I use with a 2/3 grade class.

It's great practice but it doesnt seem to me that it's written for 3rd graders. It seems like its fir maybe 5th grade by how the questions and stuff are written.

My grandson loves this reading test book. The stories are short but exciting. I am learning a lot as well.His favorite activity is completing the synonyms and antonyms. Thank you for creating a very good book. i am a former teacher and books like these are extremely necessary. Thanks Again!

This workbook was very beneficial to my daughter. She needed a little extra help with her reading and this book was recommended by her teacher. I felt a few of the exercises were a bit too easy. But still, I would recommend getting this book and the next grade level book if you think its likely your child would find the entire book too easy. Working from this book helped my daughter feel less intimidated of extra work, more motivated in the subject and reinforced her confidence with anything that seemed "too easy". I feel there has been great improvement with my daughters reading ever since we started having a consistent routine with this book and I'm happy with the results.

These books are great tools for a variety of reasons. They teach your children test taking skills. They help improve reading comprehension, spotting content clues, vocabulary, synonyms, antonyms and so much more. They have short passages which helps to keep the children from getting frustrated. You can cover as much or as little as you want. I found this to be a very helpful resource.

I am a former professor who just began introducing my first grader to tests where he must bubble in the answers. This was a great tool in facilitating the learning of this skill. It is also doing a great job in helping him with basic reading comprehension skills such as the main idea, looking back to the text for answers, making the jump to implicit conclusions, etc. The text for each reading passage is also short enough that it is not intimidating. And furthermore, the reading material is engaging and informative.

These are quick and simple reading quizzes that help kids practice both their comprehension and vocabulary skills. It helps them practice referring back to the text to to verify their answers. They are also easy to mark. Good addition to a well balanced reading program.

White Houseの話や火事の時はどうする？など子供が興味を持って読んでくれるかな、と期待しています。Grade3の本の中でも語彙はどちらかというと初級の方かと感じました。本の後ろに答えがついています。(英語のレビューによると少しミスがあるようですね)いい本だとは思いますが、これが終わったらGrade4には進まず、Mcgraw-Hill Education Vocabulary, Grades 3-5をやってみようかなと思っています。

When you need a quick snapshot of where your students are at in their reading, these reading tests are great. If your teaching, say, grade 4 - you'll want to get the grade 3,4 and 5 reading tests too match the reading continuum in your classroom. And, these other grades are available. I've really liked this resource.
