Its a balm, not a cream, but it's worth a try
The term 'moisturiser' and 'cream' is a little misleading. This appears to be what I would call a 'balm', meaning that it is consists of a mixture of oils, fats and waxes, unlike moisturizers which contain water. The main constituent is olive oil followed by sunflower oil beeswax, avocado oil and buckthorn oil. You get 2.25 oz in a hygiene sealed pot. From looking at the ingredients, it appears to have a somewhat similar make up to the oil-based personal lube from the UK brand Yes. The difference here is that you apply this to just the vulva and not internally. This is probably good practice because there is one school of thought that suggests you don't use oil inside the vagina because of their tendency to go rancid when hot and stick around for a while.Occasionally, I see women advised just to use a sensitive skin moisturiser on the vulva but, particularly if you have sensitive skin, I don't think this is helpful advice. Additives, preservatives and perfume can all irritate in the long run even if it doesn't happen in the short-term. I think the answer is to seek out a very simple product such as this one.The consistency appears soild, but its thixotropic, meaning that the warmth of your fingers, and once it's applied, allows it to flow over the area. Because balm is a different consistency and makeup from moisturiser, you don't need to apply too much. I would suggest as small an amount as you can get away with to get the desired effect. Otherwise, you are going to end up to greasy. The scent is merely the scent of the oils, fats and waxes. This may not smell like fancy cosmetics, but you don't want any scent down there to irritate, so natural is best in my opinion.Pricewise, since balms go a long way, I'd be inclined to make a smaller pot for half the price. I'd also call it a balm not a cream. As another reviewer mentioned, why is there no expiry date? How long should you keep it for once it's opened? Can you keep it indefinitely? I suppose oils, fats and waxes are slow to deteriorate so long as you keep them cool. In conclusion, this is a good product for mild irritation such as intimate dryness or itching when used once in awhile, or possibly more regularly if need be. I'd say this is worth a try. (Aunty B)
