CURT 13409 Class 3 Trailer Hitch, 2-Inch Receiver, Fits Select Subaru Forester, GLOSS BLACK POWDER COAT

This a top notch hitch. Well built and will serve you well. The online documentation for these are easy to follow with several videos to help. Just follow it 100% to the letter. The only ding is it's not 100% bolt on and this is on Subaru and not on Curt. You will have to make a few holes bigger with a step drill bit and seal the drilled holes with paint or POR-15 like I did. Minor headache but an additional trip to the store if you don't have the tools. I installed this on my 2020 Forester and it took me a morning to do it taking my time with a cup of coffee (or two).

Headline kinda says it all. I'm pleased with it.

This is well made and should hold up for a long time. Longer than we'll probably have this vehicle we put it on. The fit to vehicle is good out of the box, in that everything lines up as it should. Install is not easy, so if you're not kind of handy with tools, I would have a shop install this. It requires you to widen some holes that are already in the car's subframe. Unless you have a jack set up for receiver install, this is a two person job. To anyone with a Forester, I recommend this hitch receiver.

Instal was big hurdle. Directions not as clear as they could be. Over all happy with purchase and amount of work.

Arrived well packed. Strongly Advise You Watch the Curt Installation Video and have both sizes of step drill available before starting. Use the larger size up to 1-1/2" on the frame and the smaller size up to 3/4" on the heat shield. I used my impact wrench to remove the muffler by dis-assembling the rear flange rather than strapping up the exhaust system. You need to put some penetrating oil on the bolts before dis-assembly so you don't snap them off. I found installation very easy but most people will struggle a bit if you don't have the right tools and a little mechanical experience. Use a soapy water solution or WD-40 to lube the muffler mounting blocks or you will really struggle getting them off and on. I did drill the two extra holes in the heat shield and re-installed it. It seems like it should be there, not left off, and it's very little effort to drill with the step drills. The same goes for enlarging the frame holes, very little effort with the right step drill. A regular drill bit will be a lot more work, drill crappy holes, and maybe twist your wrist when it gets caught. I had no problem doing the work without ramps or jacks. A really big person might. The Curt hitch was as easy to install as any other brand of this type will be on a Forester.

The media could not be loaded.  Super solid hitch. It fit the Forester perfectly and I didn't have to move the muffler or anything. Make sure to get a 1 and 1/8 in step bit.

Turned out perfect for what I needed. For my bike rack.

Easy 90 minutes installation on my Forester. You need two persons (if you don’t have an elevator).Anyone can do it. I checked also a tutorial on YouTube.
