Gel stream good for distance!
I've found this pepper spray to be truly impressive. It's fascinating to learn that my friend in the local police department uses the larger canister version of the same product, which speaks to its reliability and effectiveness. What I particularly appreciate is that it offers two distinct spray types to suit different scenarios. The stream option, ideal for windy conditions and longer distances, ensures that the spray reaches its target effectively. However, it's good to be aware that it may provide slightly less inhalation or facial coverage. On the other hand, the conical spray version excels in terms of inhalation and facial coverage, which is crucial for self-defense. However, it's good to know that it might have some back spray, cover a shorter distance, and not perform as well in windy conditions. The versatility of having both options is undoubtedly a valuable feature, allowing users to choose the most suitable spray pattern depending on the situation at hand, whether it's maximizing range or ensuring effective facial coverage and minimizing inhalation risk.

Nicely Made Product
This canister is about twice the size of the "keychain" type pepper sprays, which is good. It's just large enough to get a good grip with all four fingers, and there's plenty of room to get your thumb under the safety lid easily. in an emergency, when your fine motor skills are impaired, this makes deployment easier. The carrying case appears well-made and will make carrying easy (but also clearly visible to anyone- this is not concealed carry). My concern about the case is that it will take some practice to remove the canister from the case quickly. It is possible to allow the canister to ride a little high in the case and still secure the flap, which makes it easier to grip the top of the canister and pull it out. A woman who might not want the case on her belt, could perhaps pin it in the inside corner of her purse, or put it on her purse strap for easy access. I have no direct knowledge of the effectiveness of the spray or the accuracy, but Sabre is a well-respected manufacturer of pepper spray products, so I'm confident the product is effective.

Good Product, Not Convenient to Carry
I've carried a competitor's pepper spray product for several years primarily because it is more compact and has a pocket clip. I like the idea of a gel so decided to try this Sabre product. Without a pocket clip I will not carry this Sabre Red unit loose in my pants pocket. I carry other loose items in my pockets and don't want something else to slide under the protective cover and accidentally fill my pocket with pepper gel. Additionally, this gel spray container is about 1.5 inches in diameter and almost 4.5 inches long, so would result int a noticeable pocket bulge. I would carry it loose in a loose fitting jacket pocket provided there was nothing else in the pocket. Since I live where I seldom wear a jacket, that leaves carrying it in the accompanying pouch on my belt which is very noticeable or carrying it in a waist pack or other carry bag which means it is not so readily available. I'd like to see a smaller unit with a pocket clip. I could readily carry it all the time.I tested the product at a distance of about 6 feet and found it works well and puts down a lot of orange goo pretty much where you want it. I'll accept that the gel will incapacitate a person quickly and sufficiently to get away and call the police. This definitely seems a step up from pepper spray in precision of use and effectiveness. It's something you would want close at hand when walking into a dark parking lot or when in a threatening situation. In one of these conditions this product could be retrieved from your bag and held in your hand in anticipation. To its credit, the Sabre Red Pepper Gel trigger is thumb activated with a spring loaded cover so there is no fumbling with a trigger that has to be rotated into position before depressing it. To be prepared for an immediate, unexpected threat, I still like my pocket sized spray unit with a pocket clip. I've looked for a pocket sized pepper gel product with a pocket clip on Amazon, but so far haven't found one. (Why are the product descriptions so inadequate?) I think gel will ultimately be the primary OC delivery medium, but until I find a conveniently sized unit with a pocket clip, this product will have to be carried for those situations where there is enough warning to retrieve it and slide it out of its pouch. A good product, but too bulky to carry conveniently yet covertly.
