i bought this product in February 2018 i went and used in march for the first time it seemed to work good everything pretty much as advertised so after a hour or so of casting and watching the app i went home and put it in my dresser drawer. we had a cold front come through so i didn't get back out till april and when i got out to the lake it was working so when i got home later that day i plugged it in to charge and it didn't light up like it was suppose to. i tried different chargers and nothing worked so i contacted amazon but it had been passed the 30 days for returns they told me to contact deeper. so i contact deeper after a few days of emailing they sent me a ups label and customs forms to mail the bobber for inspection. i did not use this incorrectly i lined up the water proof arrows didn't put it water without the cap didn't store it in a damp environment it was kept clean an try and in the little coozy holder that comes with it and this is the email i got today.Your Deeper has been examined carefully and water damage was found.To determine the origin of damage Deeper has gone through complete water tightness tests: High-pressure test was applied to check the body and cover of Deeper and no splits or cracks were identified The sealing gasket was checked for tightness.After conducting these tests we can conclude that there are no manufacturing defects and water damage occurred due to misuse.Possible ways of misuse:1. The top Deeper cover was not screwed according to instructions. Water Proof marks have to match perfectly.2. Deeper was put into the water without the top cover;3. Deeper was left out in damp environment for a long time without the top coverWe are sorry to say it, but it is not possible to repair water-damaged electronics. I think it has the potential to be a very good product but there are a few things that really hold it back. The biggest issue I encountered was connection issues. I am a very tech savvy person. I own a multitude of bluetooth devices and work for a company that does iOS development. I spent the first 25 minutes of my outing trying to get this thing connected and stay connected. Since there is no refresh button, and it doesn't seem to do it automatically, every time I lost bluetooth connection I had to turn the bluetooth off on my iPhone and turn it back on to get it to connect. It was a repetitive cycle of force closing the app, turning bluetooth on, then off, then on. I would get a connection and then it would simply drop off. A lot of this was because I was in a small boat, and moving would cause the deeper to come out of the water. While it's not an ideal situation, small craft is like using a row boat or kayak was the reason I purchased this over a conventional fish finder.Once I got this sorted out I had a better experience but it wasn't without it's continued issues.- Accessing the camera and then going back to the sonar screen would allow the app to let the phone sleep. This seems to be a software bug that may be resolved in the future.- The map program, Nutiteq, is sub par. I fish small lakes and ponds and the accuracy of the map imaging was pretty poor. I was fishing the banks of a small lake and it was showing me, and my boat to be fishing on land. It's tough to plot a lake, when the imagery of the lake is quite inaccurate.- More software issues... At one point the finder flaked out on me and instead of reading the 7.2 ft of water I was in, the display said was in 733876.2 feet of water. This will probably be corrected in the future, but for the price of this unit and the length of time it's been out, it shouldn't happen.Pros-- Battery life was great, I actually ran the deeper for about 3 hours and had 63% battery life left.- The app is great when it works properly. Its pretty easy to navigate and the features are good.- The boat mode/mapping feature is great because I can see the entire trip history, just wish I could export the depth map with all the readings labeled.Things I would love to see.Syncing- Currently all info is stored on a single device. If I use 1 phone on a trip and another device for the next, the data doesn't sync. I used two devices on the same lake because my battery died so I used a backup phone. Each phone has data of the same lake but I can't combine them to have a single, full history of the outing.Better maps- Drop Nutiteq and get more accurate maps. I can read a street sign on google maps, or bing but according to Nutieq, I'm fishing on boat halfway up a hill....Ability to refresh the bluetooth connection from within the app. Don't make me force close the app to connect, make a button for it in the settings.Export data - I would like to export my data to my computer so I can view it somewhere other than my phone.Overall, it's a good device buts it's not without some serious issues. Someone with less tech experience and less patience would have given up trying to get it to work (and rightfully so). If I wasn't alone, and people were waiting on me to get fishing, this thing would have probably been back in the box. This is by far the most expensive choice I've seen for smartphone fish finders, and it's been out for a considerable amount of time, it should be more refined for the price. Fix the major issues, and bring the price down about 25% and it would be a 5 star product.

What an outstanding and versatile product. I purchased primarily for kayak fishing in fresh water and didn't even know it had an ice fishing mode when I purchased the unit. I took up ice fishing a couple years ago but borrow a Vexiliar from a friend. I will report back as to how well it works this winter. Have been fishing three times with it and I really could not ask for more. Charge lasted all day -- better than my iPad. Seems the deeper causes the iPad to do a lot of work and drains battery much faster than I would have imagined. Regardless -- Buy it as you will not be disappointed. Hats off to Deeper software developers --- Amazing Job. One more thing. You can download all maps for offline use!!

Love that I can use this way out in the boonies and it will still work. To those like me in the cat wilderness all you need to one of the devices mentioned (tablet or compatible smartphone and this sonar). You do not need internet or even phone service as the machines talk to each other using Bluetooth. (Yes, I had to research how Bluetooth worked myself). It works better than anticipated and I love that I can switch between modes while still fishing with it. Shows structure and fish almost as well and the Hummingbird sonars.

1st cast screw came out of this after i had double checked all my connections were secure and the screws were tight and i haven't seen it since so as you can imagine I'm a bit annoyed as now there is £150 sitting on the bottom of my lake saying deeper is disconnected

Great for finding fish, gives water temp which could indicate if the fish will be feeding (carp etc.) Also shows what depth the fish are swimming. All in all a great addition to my fishing tackle.

Received very quickly, packaged very well and well documented. The Deeper Fish Finder is well built and was very easy to hook up on Android. This was purchased as a gift for my dad and he loves it, only tried it in the bath and in simulator mode but heading to the lakes this weekend to give it a real test.

Arrived nearly on time. Tested it out on the dry and looked fine yet to use it in earnest, which is why it is not 5 star.
