This worked like a charm. I only needed 6 piers per side to get track high enough for trains to go under track. My locomotive was strong enough to climb even though you could hear him working. I could stop and start on incline without issue and my cars never uncoupled or derailed. The downhill into a curve was interesting with the speed increase but the train handled it without problems

I bought for my 8 yr old grandson to add to his Bachman train he received last Christmas.He was thrilled with this gift

The set is simple and easy to use, you would have to be a rock if you could not put these together and on place them on your track.The problem as others have mentioned: The grade is too steep for HO or ON30 trains and they become uncoupled as they move up or down the grade. I have spent hours adjusting the placement of the risers on the track so that my ON30 train would not uncouple itself . It seems to me the grad is not gradual enough for the trains and the only way to possible rectify this is buy an additional set or McGuvier it somehow. I really think Bachmann dropped the ball on this grade set and should have made this a 26 piece set rather than an 18.
