Scotts Elite Broadcast Spreader with EdgeGuard

Really pleased with this, having bought many spreaders before, this was study and easy to use and fully assembled.

The hoppers, a good size the edge guide works fairly well. Just don’t think that the edges perfectly straight where it’s shooting the particulate out of the hopper. It has metal turners in the bottom, dual hopper drop of the fertilizer so that the old plastic ones were garbage as the gears would wear out in no time. I bought two as mentioned above because the price was so good. And please to this point as I’ve done my 2 acre lot a couple of times and gives a better spray area. I think I’m about 7 feet or more so less walking as it has a dual spreading device under it compared to a single.

Started taking care of my own lawn last year and neighbor decided he would too so we went in together and bought this spreader. It does a great job, spreads crabgrass preventer and fertilizer evenly. Can hold quite a bit of product but I only fill it up about half way seems to help me manage it better while walking my one acre yard. We always wash it out after each use and let it dry out before putting away. Hopefully will last for years to come.

Work well and good construction. Only problem was the trigger to hold the hopper open did not latch but for my small area did not matter too much. Overall a good product.

The unique twin feed design of this spreader did an excellent job of spreading both grass seed and fertilizer. I had my neighbor push the spreader so that I could stand in front of it to observe the spreading pattern and it was much better than the regular single feed design. The upgraded quality of the wheels made the unit much easier to push even when the oversized hopper was full. So why did I give it just a single star? The linkage between the hopper and the trigger failed within 2 hours. So the unit did not last a single day and I returned it to Amazon. I have been using the single feed Scott's spreaders previously, but found that I have to replace them every 2 years on average because of various breakdowns. I was hopeful that this new Elite spreader would be of better quality and that is why I upgraded to it. Unfortunately, that was not the case, and so this will be my last purchase of a Scott's spreader. I have communicated to Scott's previously, recommending that they not put their brand name on such inferior products. That if they cannot sell a good quality spreader, they should not sell them at all.UPDATE: After returning the spreader, I decided to give Scotts one more try and purchased another Scotts Elite Spreader. After using the replacement spreader for 2 years, I was gratified to find that this time the spreader has performed perfectly. Thus, I have changed my rating to 5 stars. The original spreader must have just been a lemon.

I am very disappointed. The return window ran out after 90 days. I bought it early, at Scott's suggestion, so I would be all ready for spring. What's going on? I used it 3 times. The third time I used it this season, it stopped working (the rotters wouldn't turn at all) in the middle of trying to put down Scott's Max Green, now what???? For a hundred dollars, save your money, looks cool, but breaks after 2 and 1/2 uses. Seems kind of expensive per use, I'm not that rich. Normally I love Scott's, but this is a huge disappointment.Called Scott's Consumer Service line. Spoke to someone who didn't know what they were doing. After 32 Minutes, I decided Scott's wasted enough of my time. Said they would refund my money if I cut something off the spreader and send it to them. He/she? didn't know how my money was going to be refunded. They were very confused! What a disappointment! I have NEVER EVER had this type of service from Scott's, EVER.Got a reply back from Scott's to call the same number I originally called. Guess they didn't read my comments, just the rating I gave them. Continuing to disappoint me.Called back and ordered the kit to fix. I will let you know how it turns out. BTW the lot number is printed on the green upper guard on the left hand side facing the spreader. They are going to ask you for this number., It starts with a 17 or 18.Well here we go again I had to call customer service and ask for the repair kit it doesn’t appear the first order was ever made soHere we go again I’ll let you know how things turn out hopefully well I’m really excited about the spreader itself.Receive the kit it was very easy to install it took less time to install the kit then it would to cut off the cable and mail itI give Scott’s a lot of credit for Identifying a problem and actually fixing it free to the customer Scott’s hasn’t let me down !!
