B.P.R.D.: Being Human

Just as advertised.

Ever since the first issues of Hellboy came out in the 90s, I have have been a fan. This book cannot go wrong for me! It's not the absolutely best of the Hellboy & BPRD stories, of course not every story can be #1. The whole HB & BPRD universe always has some interesting twists to present the reader. I am still hooked 20 years later!

I adore B.P.R.D. comic collections, and thought this would be a rehash of the origin stories I'd already read. I was pleasantly surprised that it was original stories. It's less about the characters' precise origins (except Johan, I suppose, but the last panel of his story is fantastic) and more about the circumstances that made them slightly more comfortable with who they are. I would recommend it, definitely.

This series is excellent for the fantasy lovers. It has a rich cast of characters you can relate to, and the story arcs are well thought out.

Good stories but too short, limited. I would love to see them more in depth but they are darn good.

The variety of artists, lead characters and story types makes this a must-have for lovers of the series. You may need more background if this your first dip into this series.

Die vier Stories in diesem Band vermitteln Neueinsteigern einen Einblick in die Welt des B.P.R.D. So ungewöhnlich, wie die Protagonisten sind, so klassisch - will in diesem speziellen Fall der Geistergeschichten meinen wenig einfallsreich - sind die Stories leider inhaltlich. Zum Glück ist die längste Geschichte, die Liz Sherman vorstellt, auch für mich die ansprechendste gewesen, so dass der Band lesenswert ist trotz der eher schwächeren anderen Plots.
