Black Hole, this is not!
I have very mixed feelings about Charles Burns' "One Eye." On one hand, it is a book created by one of my all-time favorite writer-artists Charles Burns; but on the other hand it is a book of photographs with little explanatory text. Had I known the format of the book, I probably wouldn't have purchased it. IT IS NOT A GRAPHIC NOVEL! Well, technically it is but not in the sense we are all familiar with, perhaps that was his purpose; to play upon your expectations of what a graphic novel truly is.It is a novel sized book of drastically juxtaposed images, all of which were taken by Mr. Burns on his many travels and vacations. Some of the images really clash and produce the desired effect; others fall short of his usual depth. If you are anything like myself, and already own everything else Charles Burns has ever produced, you owe it to him and yourself to at least check this book out. You may love it or you might hate it, but at least you'll know.I'd recommend this book, but only to die hard Burns fans.

Something Different
I was excited to see what else Charles Burns can create. It's a very interesting book and another glimpse through the eyes of Mr. Burns. Any fan should pick it up.
