A steal for the price
I love mine, I use it at work to cut small heat shrink tubing pieces for soldering. I have to cut them to a very precise size and this makes it so easy. The chisel grind made is super easy to sharpen on a whetstone as well.

No frills Kiridashi.
This Kiridashi does the job. I've used Kiridashi knives in the past though, they were the type that were thin brass handles and thus, weren't very comfortable to use for extended periods. My particular example came reasonably sharp and I felt no need to touch up the edge for my particular use which was just trimming plastic from 3D printed parts. The fact that the edge is chisel ground is exactly what I needed to get flush to the part.No complaints from me.

Decent Quality
I purchased this Kiridashi knife for the single bevel and oval shape handle for grafting. As soon as I received it I couldn't wait to test it out.I will tell you one thing, this knife came out of the box extremely sharp.I took some old branches that I had trimmed off my apple tree. I practiced my whip and tongue technique and it was amazingly smooth and easy. There was almost no effort besides rocking the knife back and forth to cut the notch 1/3 of the way down from the top of my cut. With how cleanly it cuts, I believe my success rate will continue to rise.I marked off one star because the cover doesn't sit tightly on my blade. Slightly loose so that it can slip off without me pushing on it. There is also a plastic push tap on top of the cover which was not flush with the cover. Wooden splinters at the tip of the cover also had me disappointed at the craftsmanship of the knife.Note: I sanded down the splinters at the tip which gave it a slightly lighter color than the rest of the wood. I decided to stain the handle and the cover and overall looks much better with dark and light contrasts of the wood.

It is what it is, no more no less
It's a decent chunk of steel attached to a cheap handle.Yes, the blade is supposed to be like that. It's a carving knife for right-handers (there are lefty versions out there). The flat side of the blade is concave so you can lay it flat on a stone to sharpen it.

Just a great all-around knife
This is an excellent knife at a price that just cannot be beat. I have used it for carving and general tasks in the workshop.

Awesome
This is a great Japanese steel knife. I use this for marking but it is great at being your go to pocket knife. It cuts boxes and anything else you can imagine with a razor sharp edge. 15 bucks was a steal !!

Mine looks used..
Unfortunately what I received recently looks used..it does seem sharp but not as sharp as described. I bought this for leather work or skiving by the way…

Sharp
Wood sheath cap is lose and really not good for your pocket it just falls off super easy and no cap cover while digging it out of your pocket? Not me,but next project make a new wood sheath! I'll spend a little more next time and get quality. Too fat and short for myself,I'll make a different handle and it will work just fine.
