5 year update - still a great box.
5 year update: I have been ungentle to this box for 5 years and it has taken the beating like a champ. I would definitely recommend it, but maybe not a today's price ($530). I would change nothing from the original review (below), except for the value per dollar.Original review:Excellent quality, excellent price. It arrived via a freight company. The packaging was pretty lame - as other reviewers have noted, it ships from the manufacturer in a single wall cardboard box with zero padding. The giant "FRAGILE" sticker might be worth something, I guess. Thankfully, the freight company that brought my package got it there with minimal damage to the box, and none at all to the contents.I really appreciate the attention to detail in the construction of the box. Very good welds, consistent material thickness, and even the lock is decent quality. It's not exactly super high security, but it's not flimsy crap that will rust out or seize within a year. The locking bar is also covered on the interior by a plate to keep it from getting bent up or caught on anything as you sling stuff in and out of the box.The sliding plastic tool tray that comes with it is a little chintzy, but unless you really whack it it's not going to break or anything. I use it to keep ratchet straps handy. In my 09 Tacoma, there's about 5 inches of clearance underneath the box, so you can still slide some stuff underneath if you need the absolute full length of the bed.I also suggest that rather than mounting the box directly to your frame rails with the included hooks, get a couple T-nuts that will fit your bed rails, and a couple lag bolts of the right length to fit between the inside flat of the rail and the outside of the box on either side. Then use some extra large washers on the inside of the box and attach the J-hooks to the lag bolts; you'll get a more secure attachment, and the lag bolts will keep the box centered in the bed no matter how hard you bang it.

Good unit for the price, beware shipping damage.
Take note of the other reviews which mention poor packaging. The unit is boxed in a very thin cardboard box with no Styrofoam or padding of any type. The unit I received via Fed Ex did have some minor damage at the corners including small dents and paint rubbed off from movement during shipping. The manufacturer should add some Styrofoam corner protectors at the least when shipping this unit.Regarding the actual toolbox, it is a well made item although very lightweight considering its construction. The lid is quite rigid, I expect one could stand on it without damage. The latches are not as smooth operating as some of the other units I looked at, but all components are metal and should last. For those wondering, the unit is only 13.5" deep and 16" wide inside due to the shroud which covers the locking mechanism; however the lid of the unit outside dimension is 20". Overall, good unit, I wish it was a couple of inches deeper, but it fits my needs and my 07 Tacoma. One more thing, if you have a truck with the cargo rail system the J bolts provided with the unit are not ideal, go ahead and buy the DeeZee bolts suggested. They are worth the $12 for convenience alone. 4 stars because nothing's perfect.

Adequate. (2018 Tacoma)
I rolled the dice and ordered this with the standard packaging. I heard the loud clangs of my UPS driver dragging the package up my front steps and opened my front door just in time to see the driver dump the package onto the walkway, exclaiming "It's not heavy, just awkward!"Having read horror stories about the packaging/shipping damage, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the tool box arrived with no damage. It took about 5 minutes to install the box with some hardware I purchased separately from Amazon to fit the bed rails. The box itself looks nice. Finish is good, and I was happy to see that the UWS logo plaque is black and white, not blue as pictured. Obviously, the metal is thinner than a top of the line box. The hinges feel stickier. The lock action isn't as smooth. But, I mean, of course. This isn't a thousand dollar tool box. That said, it is perfectly functional. So far, it's kept my tools and rain gear dry, and shows no sign of buckling under the 150lbs+ it carries.
