Works great
I got this mouse, along with the Logitech K750 solar keyboard, for my Macbook Pro. For the first time in almost 2 years, I'm starting to use an external monitor again at work with it, and so want the macbook pro farther back, even with my monitor. I'd been using a USB mac keyboard and a Microsoft Arc mouse, but was getting tired of the USB ports being filled up, and having to unplug and replug all the time. So I did some research here at Amazon, and found the unifying peripherals from Logitech, and figured I'd give it a try. My mistake at first after opening them up was to assume they'd both work, since they're universal and unified... The keyboard worked, the mouse didn't. Some digging online turned up that to share the receiver, you have to install the unifying software first. So swapped the USB receiver so the mouse worked, got online to Logitech, and downloaded both the logitech software as well as the unifying driver. That was all it took, things worked fine. Mouse is very comfortable to hold, curved well so that the hand rests naturally in the right shape. Thumb buttons are easy to use, and the software setup is a snap for configuring just what actions you want things to do. It tracks well, but I'm using it on a normal desk surface, so there's nothing astounding there. Response is crisp and precise, no feeling of the cursor floating or not moving until I move the mouse enough to register. This isn't a mouse you're likely to take with you in a laptop case, so if you want portability, dig for one of the smaller units they have. But for something that stays on a desktop, it's a winner. As much as I've enjoyed using my MS Arc mouse, this one is a better overall unit. I can fold up the arc mouse to have in my case now for future need.

Another Great Logitech Peripheral
With the purchase of this mouse, I moved from a mini version up to a full size one. While I liked my old mouse, I thought it was time to move on since I'd had it for six years and Logitech was running a nice sale on peripherals. Logitech is tough to beat when it comes to mice, keyboards and other various equipment. Since purchasing this mouse, I notice how much more comfortable my hand is while navigating with it compared to my old one. I have fairly large hands, so moving from a small mouse to a full size one just made sense. I like the fact that this mouse fits into its corresponding pocket in my backpack, which is the one thing I was worried about when switching to a bigger mouse. Ergonomically, this mouse feels very comfortable even with extended periods of use. I routinely use it for 3-4 hour sessions, multiple times a week and honestly cannot say I've encountered any issues with comfort. The buttons (left, right, back, forward and wheel) all click well and the wheel spins as anticipated. I use the left, right and wheel buttons often but rarely the back and forward buttons, simply because I'm so used to clicking on back and forward buttons on webpages, rather than using physical buttons. These buttons function well though and may prove to be a time saver if you can commit to using them. If you happen to have one of those mice that have a 1.5" USB dongle as I did, you will be thrilled to use this one, as its dongle is very small. I actually don't think I've unplugged it from its port since receiving it well over six months ago. The fact is, it's so small that you can still transport your laptop around in your backpack or carrying case and the dongle shouldn't obstruct you. Overall, this mouse is of great quality. It functions well and feels more comfortable than any mouse I've used thus far. It's also a brand you can trust as it's a Logitech. The only people I wouldn't recommend it to are people that prefer mini mice.

Solid mouse, great quality.
I've tried to save a little money in the past by purchasing cheaper mouses that had good reviews but they die or become too frustrating to use after a few months due to shoddy craftsmanship and poor engineering. This mouse is a huge breath of fresh air. Some reviews have mentioned concerns about the weight of this mouse. Personally, I think it's great. You can use one battery or two so there is some control over weight which is nice. I love the feel of this thing. It's not so light that it feels like you can crumple it in your hand. It feels solid and is really a quality piece of equipment. Normally I cringe at power saving features since they can shut the mouse down after a period of time and require you to click it to activate it again sending you to pages/files on your computer that the cursor happened to be sitting on that you don't want to go to etc. In short, they're usually more of a hassle than their worth. Not the case with this mouse. It does shut itself down after some time but all you do is move it and it's going again. It doesn't have a noticeable delay, it just works exactly the way you want it to. That and it has a ridiculously long battery expectancy of 2 years. This was something that concerned me because I wondered if it would decrease the sensitivity and accuracy but it's all fantastic. No reason to be concerned at all. Finally, the back and forward buttons are crisp and work great. The mouse contours very well to my hand and feels comfortable. The up and down scrolling is smooth and accurate and the side to side scroll feature is just as good. A simple software download from their site allows you to customize functions to your liking. I registered the mouse and got an extra 6 months of warranty totaling 2 1/2 years. If you decide you don't like it, they have a 100% money back 30 day trial. Two good indications you're dealing with a good company and a quality product. It's really nice to be able to say there's nothing I don't like and I highly recommend this product to everyone.

Fantastic mouse for the Amazon price, a few very minor issues.
Taken from my original review, posted here: http://headphonehub.blogspot.com/2015/08/logitech-m510-wireless-mouse-review.html The M510 is a mid-priced wireless mouse from Logitech that I personally purchased for use with my laptop when I am on the go. I wanted something reasonably priced that was full-sized, had a few additional buttons, great battery life, and a minimum of a 1,000-dpi sensor that I could use for light gaming and video editing on my laptop. The Logitech M510 delivers on all of these points, and has thus far proved to work well for my usage. The M510 is a full-sized mouse, not one of those dinky mini-mice that I see a lot of people using with their laptops on the go. I am used to a full-sized, relatively ergonomic mouse at home (I use a CM Storm Inferno for my primary at-home wired mouse) and after using that mouse I can't bear going back to something as small and non-ergonomic as those mini-mice. Speaking of non-ergonomic, my previous mouse for use on the go was a spare Apple Magic Mouse that I had lying around. In many areas Apple makes great products. Mice however, is not one of them. The Magic Mouse utilized a slow 800-dpi sensor and is extremely non-ergonomic. I use a palm grip with my mice, and the Magic Mouse doesn't doesn't really allow for such a grip by design. It also uses bluetooth to wirelessly connect to my laptop, which is all fine and good (and many prefer this method of connectivity) however, bluetooth wireless devices seem to burn through battery power far faster than non-bluetooth wireless devices in my experience. Enter the M510. It's a full-size mouse in an ergonomic shape. While it's not quite as large as my CM Storm Inferno, it's big enough to be comfortable to use for hours on end. There is no disputing Logitech's "full-size" description. I would say that I have medium sized hands, and I can palm grip this mouse quite comfortably. The textured rubberized material on the sides (where the thumb and pinky finger typically rest) is also a nice design choice, as it feels like thick, quality rubber material that isn't going to wear off after a year (like my at-home mouse). The remaining portions of the mouse are constructed from dark grey and silver glossy plastic, that somehow manages to remain glossy and not become a fingerprint magnet. The overall weight of the mouse is fairly light (around .06 oz), even with the added weight of the batteries. While I prefer a somewhat weighty mouse in general, for on the go it's fine and weighs around what my wired at-home mouse weighs anyway. The M510 connects wireless to your device using an extremely small USB "unifying receiver." It is called a unifying receiver because you can connect multiple wireless Logitech devices to one receiver, negating the need for having multiple receivers for each wireless device plugged into your computer, taking up all your free USB ports. You could, for example, connect both your wireless Logitech mouse and keyboard to one receiver. The receiver is extremely small, and barely protrudes out from the USB port it is inserted into. This is a nice design, as you can essentially leave the receiver in your laptop's USB port and forget about it, as it's so small you don't need to remove it when sliding your laptop into a bag, for example. If you don't want to keep the receiver permanently attached to your laptop, there is an area where you can store the receiver inside the mouse itself, right next to the batteries. A caveat of the receiver is that in my testing it does not have nearly the range that my bluetooth wireless Apple Magic Mouse did. Despite this, the mouse will operate flawlessly if used within any reasonable radius of the receiver. Another obvious downside is that the receiver method uses up a USB port, and for us USB starved Mac laptop users, that leaves us with only one remaining USB port. The upshot of the whole use of the USB receiver is that the connectivity method uses substantially less power than connecting via bluetooth. Logitech claims that the M510 gets two years of battery life, which is incredible compared to the few months (with light usage) my previous bluetooth mouse got. The M510 takes two standard AA batteries, and comes preinstalled with two quality Duracell's which is really nice to see. The M510 has an on/off switch located on the underside of the mouse, and the mouse reconnects to the computer extremely quickly after being turned back on. You also don't have to worry about draining your battery power when leaving the mouse in the on position, as the M510 appears to go into some kind of low power state when in "on" mode, but not in use. You really can just pop two batteries in this thing and forget about it. Left and right click feel is great, with nice tactile feedback and a highly audible click. There are a total of seven buttons on the mouse. Obviously left and right click, forward and backward buttons on the lefthand side of the mouse, and the scroll wheel, which can be depressed downward or moved left or right for horizontal scrolling. (Note: I didn't include the vertical scrolling action of the scroll wheel as a button). All of the buttons feel solid and have good tactile feedback, although the forward and backward buttons on the lefthand side of the mouse do feel a tad bit mushy (but still let out and audible click when fully depressed, nonetheless). I love the inclusion of the left and right horizontal scrolling action achieved by moving the scroll wheel left or right, it really helps when navigating sideways through webpages that are too large for a smaller laptop screen. Scroll wheel feel is good, and it is the "notched" feeling wheel that most mice use and is not completely linear. The mouse uses a laser sensor, with a resolution of 1,000-dpi. Overall tracking is pretty good, and seems relatively smooth. It's still not as smooth or jitter-free as the much higher DPI optical sensor in my CM Storm Inferno, but that's somewhat to be expected. I noticed that when moving to the extreme or outside of the M510's 10-meter operating range that the tracking quality significantly worsened, with more cursor jitter and laggy performance. If you find that tracking is less than ideal with this mouse, make sure you are using it within the appropriate range of the receiver. When inside the appropriate range, the tracking substantially improved and was far better than the tracking I was used too with my previous wireless mouse. There is a little bit of cursor jitter upon setting the mouse back down on whatever surface you are using it on. If you are the "slide and lift" type of mouse user, you may find this slightly irritating. I pick my mouse up frequently and place it back down on my mouse pad when tracking, and I quickly became used to the little stutter the cursor has when using the mouse this way. It's an extremely small cursor movement, but noticeable nonetheless. In addition, this mouse does not work with very light surfaces, glass or granite countertops. It does work with the darker wood grain color of my desk however. I would recommend using a mouse pad if your desk or tracking area isn't on the darker side. Other than these few minor issues, the mouse does track very well, and performs more than adequately for the current price of around $25 to $30 dollars. (The full retail price is $40 dollars, according to Logitech's website) If you are looking for a reasonably priced full-size wireless use for use with your laptop on-the-go, or even if you want something permanent for your desktop that won't break the bank, the Logitech M510 should definitely enter into your considerations. With two year battery life, quality buttons, a solid build and good tracking, the M510 is definitely a high quality peripheral that should last for years.

Logitech M510 Advanced Wireless Mouse: a full-sized mouse for my laptop that works very well.
My trusty old wireless mouse for my laptop has been acting increasingly flaky lately. The right button only works about half the time, and there’s a big dead spot in the mouse wheel. I tried changing the battery, but it did no good. The thing has been used too much over the past four years. I guess it’s time to get a new one… My choice for a replacement: the Logitech M510 Advanced wireless mouse. I received it yesterday, and it immediately became obvious that I chose very well. For one thing, it’s full-sized, and not a little “mini-mouse” like my old one. It fits much more comfortably in my hand, and it feels rock-solid without being heavy or cumbersome. The buttons and mouse wheel are positioned perfectly for my rather short fingers. I found setting up the mouse and putting it into operation very simple. I took the mouse out of its blister pack (probably the most difficult part of the job). I opened the battery compartment, put in two fresh “AA” batteries and took out the nano radio receiver from its designated slot. Then I closed the battery compartment and put the tiny radio receiver into an available USB slot on my laptop. Presto! The mouse started working. And works very well indeed. It points with great precision, the mouse buttons click softly without being mushy, and the mouse wheel turns easily through several detents. Along the thumb side of my mouse there are page forward/page back buttons that I can use to navigate web pages when I’m online. The also work very well, although I think their positioning is perhaps slightly awkward for my oddly-shaped right thumb. I was able to customize all of my Logitech M510’s buttons and its mouse wheel, using a free app that I downloaded from the Logitech web site. Only time will tell how durable and reliable my new Logitech M510 Advanced wireless mouse turns out to be. However, early indications are very promising. This is an outstanding device that earns my highest recommendation.

Simple but comfortable and reliant
This, of course, is an entry level mouse. But, it is ergonomically shaped to fit really nicely into the hands of almost anyone (for all but the very smallest and largest of hands), which is rare for a mouse in this price range. The texture on the mouse is also a nice addition that makes it less uncomfortable to handle for long periods of time. I use this mouse for hours at a time and never experience any discomfort either in my hand or in my arm. The Logitech M510 is the perfect companion to a laptop that does a little more than just web browsing and word processing. In particular the thumb buttons that easily let you navigate back and forth in a net browser, also come in handy as a few extra buttons you can configure when you play a game. The mouse is very responsive, though if you are looking for a mouse with ultra-low response times needed for intense gaming, go look for a Logitech gaming mouse such as the Logitech G799 . Even moderate gamers will never feel the difference - and certainly not enough to spend another 40 dollars for a few nanoseconds faster responses. Battery life is great. A family member of mine inherited my old laptop with an identical mouse - and those batteries were never changed and it is still going strong many months later. Just remember, as with all other wireless mice, to turn it off when you put it in your laptop or school bag. Otherwise, the constant moving in the bag will drain the batteries fast. For those new to shopping for a computer mouse - notice that this has a nano-USB connector. This simply means that rather than an inch-and-half long stick protruding from your laptop, this is at most about a third of an inch. The big upside is that you won't have to disconnect the USB plug to pack up the laptop - just leave it plugged in. It won't break like the long ones will in your bag. Most new mice have small connectors like that by now though.

Love it so far!
I've only had it for a couple days now, so I can't speak about this product extensively. But it's been great for the first couple uses. I'll go over a few notes about my use so far: 1. It feels perfect in my hand. I was very worried about the size and feel going into it. With something like a mouse, it all comes down to personal preference. I went to Best Buy so I could find one that fit my hand well, but they didn't have any displays out to try. So I took a shot in the dark and bought this one off Amazon. I have small hands, but I'm a fully grown man, so I probably have pretty average hands for all users. It's big enough to use as a full size mouse but small enough to not be too large. The ergonomic place for your thumb is very comfortable. As an added note, I love the blue color. I decided to go with it instead of the plain black and I spent a little more but it looks great. 2. Another thing I was worried about was losing the dongle. In a perfect world I would leave it attached to my laptop. But I bought the mouse to use at work and I use a different computer every day, so I knew I would drop it eventually without realizing it. However, I found out there is a place to store it in the battery compartment. GREAT feature that isn't even mentioned in the description. 3. The buttons are solid yet easy to press. There is little resistance without having much opportunity to accidentally click or double click. I have not tried the two buttons next to the thumb space yet and probably won't put them to much use. They are out of the way enough that they don't cause a problem, yet are within easy reach for those who plan on using them. 4. The set-up (or lack of it) is idiot-proof, as my father would say. You plug the dongle into a USB port and it's ready to go. There's no software to install unless you want to use the extra two buttons, and you can flawlessly switch between computers. Overall, I am incredibly happy with this purchase. I was trying to choose between this and the next step up, the slightly more expensive Logitech Marathon M705. If you are trying to make the same decision, don't think twice. Save a few bucks and get this one, which is also larger. (Note: I haven't ever used the M705 so I can't speak for that one. I'm just going off how much I like this one.) Very happy with my purchase! Edit: 6 months late, I still love this mouse. I use it 40 hours a week at work and have yet to change the batteries. It's also surprisingly sturdy. I have dropped it on stone tile at work multiple times, and it still looks and works like new. But even if it did break, I'd immediately buy another. It's still extremely comfortable, and a handful of co-workers who have used my computer have told me they really liked using the mouse. Highly Highly recommended.

love Logitech M510
myself and a bunch of friends bought the logitech M510 and M505 mice on the recommendation of a friend. we are all very happy with both. the M510 is a little bigger (the M505 is perfect for a laptop and for people without huge hands). the M510 adds a few more features that are nice but probably not needed by everyone. it adds three programmable buttons. one is a scroll wheel push. the other two are on the side out of the way. otherwise the two mice work the same. they both have a horizontal scrolling feature that is enabled by downloaded free software. you tilt the scroll wheel for that. they both are a pleasure to use. very low friction on most surfaces and they seem to work just about anywhere that's not a mirror finish. they both have lasers instead of LED lighting. the laser is invisible and allows much higher resolution and works on many more surfaces than LED. i find the horizontal scroll feature very handy. especially if you choose to make the other two side buttons (on the M510) "magnify and de-magnify" . that is a God send to people like me that don't have perfect vision. you can blow up the page so you can read it then go back and forth using the horizontal scroll feature. the center button (push the scroll wheel M510) i have elected to be a "back" button .. that's really handy. on the internet you can easily go back to the previous page as is often needed. i think the M510 is the perfect mouse for main computers but works nicely for laptops as well. it works smoothly, great range, no wires and comfortable to use. the batteries last so long you will forget about them. the included USB receiver is vary small and out of the way. a couple of complaints: first its really hard to compare all the logitech products to see what one suits your need the best. it takes a long time just to see what each does. second the M505 comes in some beautiful colors. the M510 looks really nice but only comes in black (i think). other than that these are very high quality devices i can highly recommend. unlike the many other wireless mice i have been using these do everything right. nice ... very nice
