Outstanding.
I never give 5 stars. I am a very experienced modeler. Last ban Dai was 20 yrs ago- I’ve been away too long. This is a beautiful model- innovation and quality are its trademarks. Bought this to add a lot of weathering- very enjoyable. Some reviews here are misguided- the facts: this is a scale model but snaps together- parts need to be cut off packaging (sprues), trimmed and lightly sanded is recommended. It’s posable but not a child’s toy-display it and enjoy. This is a model. Do some fact finding other bandai kits are essentially “quick assembly” displays that are pre-painted. This should be considered an easier assembly then a glue together kit yet experienced molders that love Star Wars will also find it outstanding! It even has a great price for the quality offered.

It's Bandai and Star Wars..Need i say more ?
This is an incredibly detailed and excellent build model.. No glue is really needed, snaps together easily but I recommend glue for sturdiness. The details are incredible.. you can even see and identify the old model parts LucasArts used for building the studio model they used for the film...I will say again and this cannot be under stated, the details are INCREDIBLE. Now the downsides ? I would not recommend this for a new modeler or someone new to the hobby, the great details you see are sometimes molded in, but oftentimes built up for much smaller separate parts...not for the faint of heart. That being said good weathering and small detail painting you can get about as close to the studio model without spending a small fortune.. Bandai is again proving to be one of the best model companies around..this kit is no exception to the AAA quality they put out.

Bandai's Biggest AT-ST Model Is A Quality Build
Bandai's biggest AT-ST model is a quality build and the 1:48 scale makes it a more complex model kit. There are lots of options if you are painting to your own specification. You have a lot of details, painting, decals/stickers for the cockpit area yet in a completed condition many of these cannot be seen. Bandai caters for the model enthusiast and the general modeller equally. There was only once I used glue but then again I tried to fit the part several times. There are shape variations between the 1:48 and the 1:144 versions but these are maybe down to which Star Wars movie Bandai has based it upon or just size difference. Either way I was hesitant about this "chicken" machine and didn't like it in the movie. But now the kit itself has changed my mind. I am also going back with minor dismantling to try the "weathering" that so many others have achieved (see their pics). There are a number of options: open or closed panels; moving parts (body, guns); even adding Chewie. But the legs are fixed and forces only one position BUT it does balance the model and it balances very well so it can be displayed.

STAR WARS 1/48 AT-ST
I build these Star Wars creatures for my grandson and it always amazes me of the quality of this brand kit! This kit has six sheets of sprule parts. For those not knowing what sprule is, It's the approx. 8"x10" sheet of plastic parts injection molded with little pieces of plastic which have to be trimmed away to get the part. The tolerances these parts are made to doesn't require glue except where noted on the instruction sheet which is very minimal. I would not recommend plastic glue in a tube but the liquid cement in a little bottle that comes with an aplicator in the bottle. This type of cement is almost invisible and if you don't paint the model It's better. The majority of the assembled parts just snap together. If you make a mistake in the assembly, you can get them apart with a Xacto knife but it's a rarety. I do not think a person younger than about ten could complete the kit because of the complexity but with adult help and another pair of eyes It's always helpful and a good way to bond with your kids. The kit is very well made, looks fine without painting with grey plastic and the price is worth it even though it took about 4 weeks shipped direct from Japan, it was worth the wait.

Well-engineered kit...and you and your kid will love it.
Very well-engineered kit. Very impressed with the fit -- rivals kits like Tamiya or other quality kits. Though it's a snap kit, I used glue for most of the parts. You could get away without painting it as its molded in gray, but to get the most out of the detal you will probably want to paint it. Did have a hinge cap break on me, but I was probably too rough on the leg when removing a wash. Super glue and plastic putty and it repaired well enough. Highly recommended.
