Minka Aire WCS223, 3-Speed Light Dimming Wall Control

I am so happy that I was able to find this on Amazon, please don’t ever stop selling these, so helpful. This unit replaced some no longer functional units, idk why I waited this long to fix my fan. If you are not an electrician no worries you can do this. Just be sure to turn off the power to the light via the fuse box. Follow the instructions they are clear and concise. Only tools you need are a screw driver, Philips and needle nose pliers. Everything else is included. This unit performed flawlessly, no need to trouble shoot anything, it worked perfectly the first, no issues whatsoever. This is great. Some people will try to trouble shoot the issue by replacing the wall unit or the fan unit individually. While this can work, I recommend just spending a few extra bucks and buying this. It will work, and you shouldn’t have any issues. I’m glad I bought this unit. I’ll post again in the future, to share how long it lasts. I’m hoping for a few years of trouble free operation.

I am pleased with this purchase. The unit was new and was identical to my old unit. It installed easy and came with instructions that were easy to follow.Would certainly order again from this vendor.

Worked exactly as expected

Works as described. Installation is straight forward, but may run into compatibility issues. Installed unit with Minka Aire F566-WH Ceiling Fan & MinkaAire MA K9365 3 Light Low Profile Universal Fan Light Kit. We were told that this would be compatible with the fan, but unfortunately since the fan is flush mount, it did not have the down post shroud to accommodate the control module. Luckily I am an engineer and was able to safely fabricate a mounting bracket myself that fit in the recess of the mounting bracket. Otherwise, the wireless controls work well for fan and light control. The dimmer function is a bit strange as it loops ( Holding Up increases to Max wattage then flips to Min wattage, Holding down decreases to Min wattage then flips to Max wattage ), this was not documented.

This product was purchased as a replacement for our original Minka Aire switch. The information about it leads one to believe it will control a 3-speed fan, a downlight, and an uplight. The instructions even point out the separate uplight and downlight switches (see attached photo). However, there are only three wires going from the transmitter to the fan housing; two for the motor, and one for the fan light. If you have both up and down lights you cannot control them independently with this transmitter. You can have EITHER the uplight OR the downlight OR BOTH TOGETHER. I wired the uplight and downlight together so both come on at the same time. I also tried wiring as shown in the instructions and, as expected, only the downlight came on. The two separate light switches on the controller both turn on or off the lights. They are not independent either. I went to the Minka Aire web site and it appears this is the only transmitter they offer.Another minor issue; the wall switch only accepts the switch plate screws that came with the unit. The screws from our old switch plate are too coarse threaded. So be careful you don't lose the screws.Overall I would have given this a 5-star rating except I want to bring attention to the issues described above. If controlling an uplight and downlight separately is important to you do not get this unit.

Excellent! Both fan speed and light dimmer work with my Hunter Astoria fan. I like that it has an up-down button for the light dimmer. Another nice feature is that it has a perpetual small green light near the bottom of the controller so you can find it in the dark. This was installed by my electrician, so I can't speak about whether it is easy to install.

I have a Minka Aire fan in my master bedroom and LOVE the switch. The faint blue light that it emits at night makes it so easy to find the switch. I wanted to install these same switches/fan controls in my other bedrooms but didn't want to invest in Minka Aire fans. Therefore, I purchased Hunter fans and purchased this product to control the fans. It works very well, and the wiring in fans is almost universal. The back of the controller has 4 or 5 dip switches. If you have multiple controllers, make sure that you set the dip switches to a different pattern for each room. The communication between the controller (which you install in the wall and connect to the wiring in the wall) and the green box (which gets installed in the fan) is wireless. therefore, if you don't set the dip switches to a different pattern for each room, the controller in one room may turn on the fan/light in another room. Additionally, because the communication is wireless, you do not need to have an extra common wire (in the wall) to control fan speed. Therefore, any standard light switch can be swapped with this controller to enable independent light and fan control.
