For those who are not aware, building personas is one of the best ways I know of to help make informed marketing decisions. "The Essential Persona Lifecycle" is the most complete and best source of information about persona development that I have found.

Deeply Insightful. Adlin is clear, thoughtful and presents original ideas. Great for anyone building a company, marketers and product designers.

Personally did not get a lot out of this book

Great step by step guide for doing personas, and managing the persona lifecycle.

The extreme biological metaphor (including conception and gestation...because that is EXACTLY what I was thinking during my user research) overlapping the techniques of building personas falls completely flat for me, but if you can try to ignore that and focus on the real information then you can learn a lot from this book. I can't remember encountering a more forced metaphor before though.My boss already has a copy of this, which I am using to study UX design. I wouldn't be willing to pay for this book outright.

I was interested in this book but I looked at the table of contents and it's all based on a metaphor of human conception, gestation, and birth. Ugh, I'm cringing already. Didn't anybody tell the author maybe that's not a good idea? Where was your editor?! I'm gonna pass on this.
