Worked well for 2011 15" MBP
Took out my optical drive and replaced it with a second hard drive. As other reviewers have noted, there are no screw holes to attach the drive to the adapter nor the adapter to the BMP. The fit is snug enough that I'm not worried about anything moving. As another reviewer noted, there is a piece of plastic that gets in the way. Instead of breaking it, I found that you can pry it away from the side of the adapter and it will come off. Simple mod and great way to add a second hard drive. Also, it's spec'd as a 9.5mm drive adapter. I did get a 1T 12.5mm drive in, but it's really too much stress on the bottom plate and a cable that fit over the drive bay in the case. Stick to 9.5mm or find another adapter. I put a 750G Scorpio Black in instead. On a side note, I also ordered an external enclosure to put the optical drive in. Because it's a slot load (so you wont have a face plate at all) and Apple design (screw holes don't line up with the case), it's not a good solution. Save yourself the trouble and just order an external DVD burner for a couple more bucks. My optical is going into a drawer instead.

Perfect fit
Fits perfectly. Works like a champ. The included screws were nice but the included screwdriver was worthless as the tip of the bit was crushed.

Easy install, works great. Identical to items from other sellers
Fit a 2011 13" MacBook Pro perfectly, and the drive was recognized with no problems. Speeds seem sufficient, but the connector on the machine is a SATA II, so I'd only use the optical bay for a platter HDD. Other laptops might use the faster SATA III. I ordered another drive caddy with a different brand name sticker attached to it, but the items were completely identical, down to the display card that comes in the package. In my opinion there is no need to buy an item like this branded specifically for Macs. I've seen some reviews claim that the build quality is low, but it seems great to me. It's basically a sheet metal and plastic holder with a SATA connector, but I'm not sure what else you need. It seems well made enough for $8. It comes with 4 screws to hold the drive in place, and a screwdriver. One note would be to remove the bracket from the back of the original optical drive and affix it to the caddy before installation, so the back has a way to mount to the computer. Installation took all of 10 minutes.

Works fine, check the fit.
I really liked the idea of using the dvd space as extra storage. This actually solve my problem as I was trying to revamp an old all-in-one PC and I didn't even know it existed. The only issue I had was that I had to trim a piece off to ensure it'd fit but that might be just my small PC. Just make sure it sits flush or at least the way you like it in your builds.

Works really good
Great purchase to add a HDD or SDD if you don't need/want your CD port. I have a USB blue ray player so nothing really lost. I do recommend that if you buy one of these beauties, to watch a couple of videos on youtube. I put this in my mid 2012 MacBook Pro. OS Mohave proved too much for my Mac and I couldn't just roll back the OS. I found an old HDD that I had upgraded from in 2014 with an older OS on it. At that point I bought this product, a crucial 500gb SDD and a newer external case from Sabrent for $9.99. Installed the old HDD and trimmed it down a few gbs so it would clone to the Crucial. Put the Crucial in the external case and cloned the drive with Superduper!, then opened the Mac again and replaced the Crucial in the primary spot and installed my hdd in the caddy. It is a bit difficult, but watched an install video a few times to make sure I was on the right track. Sealed up and now my MacBook Pro is killing it again with High Sierra even faster than before.

Handy (and great!) Upgrade
Used this item to install a second hard drive in my trusty MacBook Pro 2012 (v9,2). I travel a lot, and I've grown tired of limited integrated on-the-go storage for my image and graphics files. And I don't like traveling/flying with an external drive. So I took the plunge on this and installed a Seagate 2TB FireCuda drive as a second, media storage drive. (my primary drive is a 1TB samsung EVO) The install went fine, it fits perfectly, but the whole disassembly/reassembly process is a bit tricky with the miniature screws involved. Pro Tip: a slightly magnetized screw driver is amazingly helpful. As other reviewers have said, there are basically no "real" instructions included with this caddy, so do yourself a huge favor and google how to do it before you get at it. It will save you time and heartache, and maybe even a trip to the repair shop if you break one of the many small components inside your MacBook. Highly recommended. Also, to retain the ability to play CDs and DVDs (at my desk) occasionally, I picked up an LG external writer/player for like $25 here on Amazon. Works like a charm. No need to go SuperDrive. And I wouldn't bother messing with putting the newly liberated internal DVD drive in a third party case. Not worth the hassle for a 6 year old drive, IMO.

The product is ok. It came from Hong Kong and I expected it to arrive faster (that's Hong Kong Post's fault I guess) I bought it to put a ssd in my late 2009 iMac 27". The ssd would fits inside the tray just fine but the tray wouldn't fit in my iMac. I had to cut two pieces of aluminium with pliers, and the screw holes were not at the right spot. I might just be perfect for a mabook; I can't tell because I don't have any, but I wouldn't buy this again if I had another iMac to upgrade.

It gives a lot of support when you intend to keep your old hard drive.

I don't have a Mac, I have a Toshiba. I've been wanting to drop a boot SSD into my laptop for a while and I want to keep the spindle media to hold the data. Pulling out the optical drive and removing the coverplate were easy. The coverplate has four plastic tabs, but unfortunately only one of them is in the right palce for this item to fit properly. No matter to me, I'm going to use duct tape to hold it in place. The unit I received DID have screw holes, as in the last image. The plastic tab lifts out so you can slide the drive into the caddy without bending the connectors. There are four screws, but only two screw holes. The item fits into the optical drive bay and the drive is recognised and useable by the operating system. I'm happy with my purchase and hope other people have coverplates that fit perfectly. Not everyone likes the thought of cosmetic trim being held on by tape.
