Amazing part of a great family of tapes
For me, the Micropore 1/2" white (paper) surgical tape is better than Band-Aids! To make the pad, I fold over a few layers. Then a strip of the tape makes the strip of the Band-Aid. This tape is so flexible that it contours well to my fingers (where I usually use it).I particularly like the fact that the tape tears easily. It is paper, and fairly thin paper at that. Quite porous, too.I have one strip of it wrapped around an empty pill bottle. My gel pen writes on it easily, so I'm using it to label the bottle. The tape does not leave a gummy residue. I don't know how, but it's a great feature. :-) Also, it withstands showering very well.I have and use these tapes from the 3M family: Micropore, Durapore, Transpore and Medipore. They are all amazing. I wish I'd found them before a lifetime of using adhesive tape and Band-Aids. Collectively they solve every problem I encounter, relating to taping on various parts of my body (and occasionally other things) for various purposes. Sometimes I tape to hold a tube to me. Sometimes to avoid friction from shoes. Sometimes to close a wound. And so on. These four cover all bases.--Eben Visher

Perfect as sheet music tape!
As a cello teacher, I am constantly taping music for my students and after a decades-long battle with scotch magic tape that split apart at every opportunity, I found this tape! About 4 years later, it’s still all I use. I have rolls everywhere now and have taped hundreds of pieces of music successfully. It doesn’t rip or break and it doesn’t damage the music. I recently found that a washi-tape dispenser works really well to hold and cut it. If you are a musician or music teacher, I highly recommend this tape!

Great dressmaking tape too! :)
Okay, so full disclosure -- I do not buy this stuff for the intended purpose. I use this surgical tape for sewing (especially for temporary "pinning" where I need to just lay something in place long enough to sew it down). It's a great tape for holding things in place temporarily and if you sew over it, it's no big deal. It doesn't gum up the needle or leave a residue on the fabric. It's also much cheaper than buying tailors' tape! This is a standard paper tape. You can tear it with your hands with very little effort, or use it in a standard tape dispenser.Although I don't use it "medically" I can tell you it's awesome for sewing and embroidery work!

Comparisons
Trying to figure out what kind of tape I needed for taping a toe down was crazy. The adhesive on the tape I had gotten at the local drug store was making my toe raw and making the skin break down. So, to Amazon I went. I bought Transpore, Durapore, and Micropore tape. I figure, it's tape I will definitely use it. Not only am I accident prone, my son has inherited that particular trait. Transpore tape is the lovely clear tape that is perforated both horizontally and vertically so it is very easy to tear. My skin has had no reaction to the adhesive and the sticking is power is fairly good, so long as the area is free of moisture and well dried. Durapore tape is the cloth tape that is more silken than your typical athletic tape. Again, my skin has had no reaction to the adhesive. I do tend to find that the sticking power is much better, but you also get the residual gummy tape goo left over more so than the others. Also, while it is fairly easy to tear, it does get cantankerous sometimes. Micropore tape is the paper tape. I cannot really give you a review on that, as I haven't used it yet. All of them I got in the 1/2" width. It is a good width for solely using tape on fingers and toes and small places. Or taping bandages down, NOT sealing them.

Great for crafters...
I love this tape. I use it for crafts. It is so much more durable than washy tape but isn't as tacky. I use it for holding my dies in place so they don't shift when I run them through my die cutting machine. Works like a charm. You can use the same piece over and over so, it is very economical.I also use it for masking a border around my handpainted watercolor cards. Once the paint is dry, the tape pulls up very easily and you are left with a very nice white border. I will be using this tape in the future for all my crafts. If you're a crafter, you should try this out.

Great product
I am using this tape to prevent mouth breathing during sleep. Yes, that means I cut about a 2” strip to put up and down over my lips. It adheres and does not allow my mouth to open while I sleep. That being said, it peels off easily. I looked at prices at CVS and this is a far better for the quantity.

Works for me!
Love this tape! One can use it for so many different purposes. It's great to put a couple of strips on your skin to protect from blistering, as with shoes that might not fit so well. I also place it over a breathe-right strip which I've cut a little smaller, as this tape is much easier on the delicate skin of your nose! Sometimes I use it to hold Band-Aids on if they're not sticking well. I'm sure there are other ideas I will come up with using this tape. Works for me!
