Pretty simplistic
Lots of popular songs and for someone who grew up on hymns, it's good to have music for these. But, if you can play from a lead sheet (I can't yet) you don't need this book. With the exception of "How Deep the Father's Love for Us," there's nothing here that's nice enough for a special (unless you forgot you're supposed to play until Friday or Saturday.) Left hand is almost entirely single notes - sometimes single tied whole notes, but mostly standard quarter- or eighth-note arpeggios. There's some synchopation, too many key changes, several bizarre chords, and the endings are pretty much all the same. I'm considering returning it. Also, the lyrics are not included...which makes it hard to play with the appropriate expression.

Extremely Simple for a Late Intermediate/Early Advanced Pianist
I hate to give this book 2 stars but it's just like playing from a lead sheet except that you have a bass line.....but it's only one note. I was really disappointed because I am a self-taught pianist who considers myself late intermediate/early advanced in my skill level but this book's arrangements were boring, repetitive and way too easy. I own a lot of Carol Tornquist's books and enjoy them very much but if you are looking for any type of challenge, this book is not for you. This would be a great book for an aspiring pianist who likes popular worship songs.

The arrangements are just so-so...
The songs are contemporary and very easy to play if you need something really fastly put together on a Sunday morning, basically requires no practice. But if you want something better arranged, and still quite easy to play on Sundays, I like Cindy Berry’s “What can I play on Sunday” a lot better although that one is mostly hymnal arrangements. It is unfortunate that buying sheet music book at Amazon often is basically like a blind buy, most of the time you don’t know what songs are listed and there was no inside samples as references. At the end I gave this book to my 11 year old son to play for fun instead, and even he felt that this was too easy, and added his extra flares to make them more playful. So if you have a solid 3-5 years of piano playing/learning experiences (that is if you practice your piano daily), then this book of a piece of cake for you, but if you are looking for something more sophisticated then go with either Marilynn Ham, Cindy Berry, or even Mark Hayes.

One of the best collection of modern praise piano ipsolos
This book is a phenomenal collection of the most recent praise songs in lovely arrangements. My only suggestions for the product that would make it better would be if chords were included and also lyrics/words, maybe a page with words at the beginning of each song, so if someone wanted to use the arrangements to sing, the words would be handy.

Piano Music for year round services
This book is wonderful. I've always enjoyed playing Carol Tornquist's sacred piano arrangements. The arrangements are very pianistic with beautiful harmonies and just enough improvisation to give the pieces a bit of bravura. The book arrived in great condition and with the plastic comb it stays open on the piano rack.

Falsely advertised and labeled....
Very disappointing. Advertised as late intermediate to early advanced, this is not accurate. Arrangements are very simple and not even intermediate level. Pieces are way too repetitive, even for praise songs. Just plain boring. Definitely not on par with the arrangements in other “what can I play” books.Would like to return it. I cannot use this book.

Her Sacred Hymns and Standards are much better.
I have had many of Carol Tornquists arrangements before. Perhaps it's just the nature of praise songs but I found the arrangements to be less than exciting and very repetitive.

Nice but not advanced
I really like the variety and the arrangements. However, the cover indictates that the level is intermediate to early advanced. I disagree. It is maybe late intermediate, but not any more challenging than that.

An excellent combination of songs
An excellent combination of songs. What a fantastic and useful compilation. Note - the level of the pieces is fairly easy, which means that a strong pianist could likely sightread them well enough to play in front of them, but not so easy that they sound incomplete.

Nice easy music
Nice easy music. Most of the songs are written well as piano solos. Some of them though have odd intros that don't seem to go with the song, nor is the intro the same style of music. But overall, they are well-written.
