It is just as it says! It is not meant to go in the dishwasher, that can ruin it. The heat from your hand makes any ice cream scoopable! I would suggest cleaning it before your first use to take off any residue. It's a phenomenal design, works as it should, it's only sticky if you don't wash it after using it.

Best ice cream scoop there is! Biggest problem is making sure no one puts it in the dishwasher! That ruins them right away so I've had a few of them.

These scoop are pricey but well worth if? They are so much better quality than other similar products.

The ice cream scoop has a nice shape and scoops really well. It is not too heavy and is nice to hold. It's definitely better than other scoops I've used. But it's not dishwasher safe, and, as others have noted, it comes out with a gray residue if someone puts it in the dishwasher. I was able to wash that off (with some trouble), and it is no longer leaving a residue. So, I'm happy with it for now. I just hope no one accidentally puts it in the dishwasher again.

This is an amazing ice cream scoop. Shake it several times then it glides through the ice cream rolling a great scoop. I’ve had several ice cream scoops over the years but I was always trying to find one like my family had growing up. No triggers to pull, no using a spoon to get the ice cream off the scoop, no running the scoop under hot water to get it to work. Just shake, scoop and serve!I’ve also tried other brands of this style but they all left me disappointed because it was still a struggle to scoop.But finally, this is it! This scoop works exactly how I remember the one from my childhood. So simple and it’s easy to clean too. Just remember HAND WASH ONLY. The dishwasher will ruin it.Absolutely worth the extra cost, your wrists will thank you.

Let it warm up in your hand for a bit and it makes scooping ice cream a breeze. The size of this model is great for cones or bowls. I had a “whale tail” style scooper previously and it was nice, but this one is even better. Not dishwasher safe so don’t end up being one of those reviewers who complains about the scoop mysteriously turning black. It cleans very easily by hand-washing - seriously, it takes less than 30 seconds to wash and dry. Just a great scoop and worth the price.

I really REALLY like aluminum core ice cream scoops. I have tried multiple brands, but this one is definitely my favorite. I had a lot of issues with other scoops chipping on the edges or ionizing (I think that's the right term... the metal changing colors???). Anyways, I have had this scoop for about four months, and it has gotten quite a bit of use (we really like ice cream--sorry, not sorry!). This scoop looks just as good as it did when we bought it, maybe with a few more fingerprints than before. However------DON'T PUT IT IN THE DISHWASHER!!!Just don't. Please, don't. You will be utterly disappointed. And guess what? Sadly, that is your own fault for thinking you would be the one person who wouldn't have the issues EVERYONE else does. Please, don't put it in the dishwasher. PLEASE, hand wash gently with a soft sponge or wash cloth. Why? Because you will ruin the metal coating, and expose the aluminum scoop beneath... and then you won't love this scoop anymore. Trust me. And if you're wondering, "why wouldn't they warn me?" Well, they did. It's in the description and instructions. However, if you're like me, you didn't read those, and assumed your dishwasher was the god of all dishwashers... And, like me, you will find yourself sad, disappointed, and wishing you had read those instructions, listened to the reviews, and put in a little bit of light scrubbing and air drying to maintain the excellent quality of this scoop. Because it is excellent, it is good quality, but it does require you to follow directions.So, recap, excellent, amazing scoop! Don't even think about putting it in the dishwasher. Scoop ice cream, eat yumminess, hand wash, air dry, repeat.
