60-Watt Powered Subwoofer - 8 Inch With Auto-On Function, For Studio And Home Theater Black

I own two other subs -- a nice Sony for my living room theater system, and a big Klipsch sub on my "virtual pipe organ" setup. No, this little unit isn't directly comparable to either, but it does what it does surprisingly well. I didn't buy it to shake the walls, the way my Klipsch can when I play the organ, but to add some missing heft to the music I play at bedtime for relaxation. In the bedroom, I have a small Pyle amp with Bluetooth built in, connected to a pair of rather dinky little "satellite" speakers, each one having a 4" driver and a tiny dome tweeter in a metal cabinet. They sound decent but certainly don't put out any punch whatsoever. At night I use the YouTube Music app to play quiet sedate classical or New Age Music, or very calm pipe organ music before I go to sleep. Using only the two little satellite speakers, the music is ok but not all that satisfying, lacking lower midrange and bass tones that I know are in the music (I hear them when I play the same music on my living room system). Using the supplied stereo RCA patch cable, I simply connected the "recording out" jacks of my Pyle amp to the input jacks of the sub and fired everything up. I cracked open the sub's volume control, and instantly began to hear the lovely deep tones that had been missing from my music. Not wanting to keep the neighbors up at night, I've left the sub volume quite low. I turned up the frequency knob to the point where it seems that the sub takes over the bass about where the small speakers lose it. So I'm more than happy with this purchase. It cost a fraction of what I paid for my other two subs, and while it wouldn't be adequate for the virtual pipe organ, and perhaps only barely adequate for the living room theater, it is all I need for my little bedroom music system. So I can't say that this little unit will be enough sub for everybody in every situation. It certainly isn't made to shake the walls in a big room, or even in a modest theater setup. It probably wouldn't last very long if you tried to make it do what only a larger sub can do. But for supplementing some smallish speakers in a bedroom or office system, or a desktop audio setup, it ought to be just right. It was packaged beautifully and securely, was delivered exactly on time, and everything I needed was in the box. Good product.

I currently have this connected to a pair Audioengine A2+, which is connected to a cheap FiiO DAC, connected to my PC. This sub has gone as low as $30 a few years ago due to some crazy deals, it was a great steal then, and still is for $100. The sub is $100 and comparing it to something like the SB-1000, a $200 PreSonus or $300 Kanto sub isn't fair, which I see a lot of people online do. It's a 60w sub with an advertised range of 50 to 250 Hz, but I'd be surprised if it really hits the 50 Hz mark. 99% of people will not notice, and the people who will, won't bother with a $100 sub anyway. This is for people who need a bit more low end and aren't crazy audiophiles. My office is an 8x9 room, where it has more than enough power to fill the room, and I have mine placed in an Ikea Alex Drawer for space savings. At first it sounded horrible, bass was very pronounced, the thumps felt out of sync and too high, to the point I was ready to return it after an hour. I gave it a bit more time and continued messing with the LPF and sub volume, then messed with the EQ using Equalizer APO/Peace. Now it blends with my speakers pretty seamlessly, and gave them that extra low end oomph they needed. I did also test my setup against some Kanto ORAs and iLoud Micro Monitors, since those are other highly regarded smaller speakers. There is no question that both of those speakers are better than the A2+, and are worth spending the extra money on if you were in the market for new speakers. But if you were in my situation where you already owned something like the A2+, getting this sub might elevate them enough where you don't need to buy better speakers.

I have a Monoprice Pure Tube Amplifier ... which I run through Klipsch bookshelf speakers. The idea of my system is not to shake the walls, or let the neighbors know what I am listening to. I wanted the warmest/highest quality sound, so I could play some vinyl on my Fluance turntable. While I cannot personally afford to be an audiophile, I'd like equipment which at least compliments my growing record collection in a way that stays true to the warmth and crispness of the medium. One issue with the amplifier is that it runs only 10W per channel ... which equates to about 50W. Most subwoofers these days run 100 - 300W ... so finding something in the 50 - 60 W range was tough. If you run a higher Watt subwoofer, it won't damage the system, but it's a waste of money, so this was the perfect amount for my small tube amplifier. Klipsch speakers tend to a be a little on the bright side, which can get grating. I wanted a subwoofer to give me just a small punch of bass to round out the sound and this did exactly that ... no more/no less. At first, I was suspicious that this was even working. I didn't feel any rattle on the shelves or vibrations on the floor. However, after turning it on and off while the song was playing, it became apparent that this was working and rounding out the sound nicely with some much needed lows. If you are looking for something to really 'punch' you ... the way some subwoofers do ... this is not it. If you have a smaller system with limitations on the number of Watts, it's adequate for your needs. While I do wish it gave a little more punch, it does what it is supposed to and I am not surprised in either direction as to its performance. The louder your system plays, the more bass will come out of this. As my amp isn't really designed to be played loud ... and I don't use my system's volume knob much past the 5 o'clock position, even tweaking the actual output knob on the subwoofer won't make my living room sound like a Dolby theater. This was a bit larger/heavier than I thought it would be, given its 60W performance. I own an Altec Lansing speaker set, which includes 2 small speakers and a subwoofer and that subwoofer is about 1/4 the size of this one and packs the same amount of punch. I'd prefer a Klipsch subwoofer, but given the small output of my amp, the added cost (3x what this costs) wasn't worth it to me. Where I really notice this from a sound perspective is classical music, especially with a cello. On rock and roll music, such as The Rolling Stones ... or on pop music, like The Weeknd, the lows it produces kind of blend into the music and aren't extremely perceptible unless you turn it off and on. Once you do, you'll appreciate having this. Most true audiophiles aren't fans of bass ... which is why the best speakers are on the bright/crisp side. For vocals and guitar solos, bass usually gets in the way and takes away from those parts of the song. If you are a rap music, pop, R&B fan who wants to dance along to the music, you'll likely want a subwoofer which is a bit more dynamic and less crisp. Pricewise, like the size, I think it's a little more than it should be. Given its limitations, I'd expect this to be more in the $50 - $80 range. However, there aren't many decent subwoofers out there lower than 100W, so I guess the north of $100 price speaks more to the novelty. I have owned many Monoprice products. While they in no way would ever compete with a Klipsch or B&W speaker/system, for a budget price, they perform better than generic/unbranded sound equipment. While their claims of being 'equal to' some of the bigger names in audio equipment is not really accurate, they'll give you a decent piece of equipment at a low price. Overall, I can't really sing this thing's praises too highly because it is truly not amazing ... or a difference maker. It rounds out the sound good enough to be better than nothing ... but it's not going to give you that 'floaty' euphoric feeling which true audiophile equipment might. If you have a low Watt amp, or are working in an office, or live in an apartment where you have to be conscious about the volume level, it might be just what you are looking for. If you are searching for a thumping subwoofer, it is probably not what you are searching for. I hope my honest review, after having used the product, was helpful to you.

I Was very surprised with this subwoofer,more than enough bass for me ,it won't shake ur building into an earthquake but many times I had to lower its power cause it would catch me of guard! great on movies and music. It was all I could afford at the time so the price was perfect .I would recommend this little subwoofer to anyone looking to enjoy music, not have the neighbors call police on you ,although it could actually shake ur bedroom windows! Keep in mind ! Take some time adjusting to your sound preference,it makes a difference!

I’m not an expert on subwoofers by any stretch of the imagination, but I do think that they have a very important role in the home entertainment field. I think that these fall into what I consider the under $150.00 category, and I think the next step up would be the $150 to $300 category, after that I think the quality of many subwoofers tend to be higher, just in my opinion,but I’m not an expert this is just my opinion. This subwoofer was very inexpensive and I do have subwoofer in the three categories that I rated them in. This subwoofer is not the best sounding one in this category but on sale it was by far the cheapest, so in my opinion,if your budget is tight, or you just need it for a small room or setup then this might work well for you, but if you can move up in price or you have a larger space you may want to consider buying something else. I think that $300 is about where to quality and features tend to be more of a overall quality level. But I do think that you can get a good deal, depending on your needs, at a reasonable price. Like this one. For between 100 to 300 dollars.

This sub woofer sounds descent and having an adjustable crossover on board is nice. The auto-shutoff feature is strange in that you never know if it is working. After 24 hours, the red power light is still on. I don't know if it is supposed to turn off when the unit auto powers down but every time I check it it is always on. There is a slight hum when powered on even with nothing connected to it. Sound quality wise, it sounds good and seems to work well so far.

I was a little suspect at the low price and meager specs of this sub woofer when ordering it. But it is for a surround system I set up in our motor home and I had limitations both in budget and physical size of the sub. The sub needed to be 12” square or less to fit where it to fit. That didn’t give me much to choose from. I was pretty concerned that the amplifier power wouldn’t be sufficient, even though I didn’t need a great deal of thumping bass for this system. Well so far I’m pretty impressed. It definitely rounded out the sound of the 5.1 system I put together. It doesn’t seem to grab those super low frequencies that a better sub would do. But it does have decent volume and a balanced, non distorted sound. I haven’t really give it a good workout yet with a movie, but have tried it with regular TV shows in 5.1 surround that had a good sound track. The other thing I liked was it’s a front facing speaker and port. I have it situated in a tight spot pushed against the wall and with cabinets on each side of it. So the front firing sound as ideal for me. If you are just looking for a surround system for a small area that isn’t a major home theater setup, this woofer may be just what your looking for! My five star review reflects the price point for this sub. It’s certainly not going to compare well to a $600 sub, so keep your expectations realistic.

Unit is relatively compact, has some barebones features but auto-on is very nice, and cabinet is minimalist and classy looking. I paired these with monoprice's DT-3s and it has really helped extend the bass down and give some nice rumble. I have two main complaints - first, the low cut knob is almost useless. The amount of cut seems a little lacking, but the main issue is it never seems to match the frequency I feel the knob is turned to - it always seems to start cutting either around 70hz or 100hz when the knob is labeled 50hz to 150hz. The second complaint I have is related to lower bass tones - although the unit is labeled to extend only to 50hz, it actually out of the box goes down well past 30hz. However, frequencies between 40 and 50hz have a large amount of distortion and "flap". I can't tell if this is from the cone itself or the enclosure, but stretching the fabric seems to dampen it a bit so it seems likely to be the fabric or housing. I've attached a measurement made with cheap hardware in a non-sound treated room. Overall however, it does sound good for the most part, and you definitely can't go wrong with the price.

Received unit in apparent good conditions. On further checking and to my horror the unit delivered was for 110v/60 hz power input and not what Singapore public power system operating at 230-220v/50 hz is designed for. Vendors selling internationally should have supplied dual voltage unit. Otherwise they should stick to just USA market only. I have to buy a step down transformer for my power supply in order to get it in operation. Have lodged a complaint with seller but as yet not heard back. What a disappointment.

Bueno bonito y barato.. para ser sincero detesto los subwoofer para la música.. pero para películas es fabuloso.. compre este subwoofer para mi recámara para cuando deseo ver alguna película o serie recostado. Comparado este con otro subwoofer que tengo de marca onkyo SKW-204 se adapta mucho mejor por ser compacto de 8 pulgadas. La función de autoapagado funciona perfectamente no como el onkyo que es un desastre porque pierde señal y se apaga. Suena muy bien con salidas analogas, aunque no excelente como el onkyo SKW-204 de 10 pulgadas que ese si es un bajo profundo y vivo, además que ese es construido de mayor calidad. Pero este es más económico práctico y decente e ideal para una habitación mediana y totalmente funcional. Un subwoofer nunca está de más y máximo debajo de mi cama que no estorba y sólo lo prendo para ver películas, aunque escuchando eminem suena de lujo. Es toda una ciencia el audio y cada equipo debe calibrarse de acorde a cada equipo y habitación, además que cada bocina debe usarse un tiempo para que estas se aflojen y suenen mejor.

Purchased to add bass to some computer speakers that I received as a gift. Had to daisy chain some cables in order to get everything working on my computer. The base can overpower the sound, however, there is a knob where you can adjust the bass to your liking. Would not get if you are a hard core audiophile, but I personally enjoy the difference for my set up. I purchased this through Amazon Warehouse as a resell/refurbished item. Outside of a few barely visible knicks and scratches, the subwoofer looks great, and worked well.

Hay que tomarse un tiempo para configurarlo, me tomo 3 días hacerlo, lo tengo conectado a unos altavoces activos con 1 salida RCA para subwoofer, primero utilice un conector RCA en Y y emitía un zumbido afortunadamente contaba con otro y se eliminó. aun asi no lograba que el sonido del subw destacara, por lo que decidí conectarlo a las salidas RCA (L,R) de los altavoces al subw, trate de ajustar mas o menos la perilla del crossover o freq para hacer el corte a los 80hz (que es lo que mas recomiendan los expertos) y el volumen al 60% y oh sorpresa funcionó, el sonido del subw ya destaca y se siente y ya con eso igual pude buscar una buena colocación en la habitación.

Honestly, if you are looking for a desktop setup or a small room, this little sub performs great. No, it doesn't go super low, but it fills in the low end down to about 37hz quite nicely. It doesn't have a hugely powerful amp, so it won't be great for medium or large rooms, but for a small room it's perfect. If you are looking for something to help the low end and you have realistic expectations of a sub this small you will love it. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this for home theater use, unless you are not a huge bass fan and only want something to help the low end. This sub works amazing for music though.
