Best trap we have tried
I don't normally write reviews, but I felt this product needed mentioned. We had tried other traps where the mice were just eating the bait and not triggering the trap. This one doesn't have this problem, it has been very successful and far more humane than poison.

Placement important.
I have one of these (actually bought it from a local hardware store on recommendation). What the store did, along with showing me how to arm it properly, was explain how the placement affects the effectiveness of the trap. It needs to be set somewhere that the mice will track through (so near walls) and preferably somewhere where the reflex kicks won't land the mouse somewhere out of reach (back in holes, under ovens etc.).This proved to be good advice. First time the trap caught a mouse, it'd travelled about a 2-3 feet from the trap itself, so I was quite perplexed when I found the trap but no ring. The mouse was up against another wall!To date, this has proved to be completely successful for mice (I've not had rats in the house, thankfully), with 3 triggers in the last 12 months, and three dead mice from that.

Prefer it To Poison
Since all the kids moved out and took their cats with them, we've had problems with mice. Although I'm a live and let live kind of woman, the mice where racking havoc with my paper towel stash. We tried traditional traps but they weren't catching any mice. We switched to poison which worked but then you'd have to go find the dead mouse and clean up the area where they scattered the poison.Yes I would prefer a clean, quick death and will look at other alternatives but this did work and I was able to easily find and remove the dead mouse.
