Seems sturdy and well heated
I got this on a whim for a stray cat who has been left to his own devices over the last several years. The lady that used to care for him moved at the end of the summer. I never really thought of him until the DH said he saw him walking the top of our fence. I encountered him in a common area; he's not mean, but he avoids people. With the bitter cold for this week and the weekend, I wanted to give him the option of a shelter. I was very pleasantly surprised when I was able to order this on Wed to get today, just in time. I tested the heating element, it seemed to work fine, and it was super easy to assemble. I'm hoping I can add some comfort to a creature that surely is accustomed to the outside but not maybe these temperatures, as I do not believe I've felt it so bitterly cold for so many days here in the DC area. Thanks Amazon for delivery and to K&H! I don't know if it will be weatherproof but rated up for the benefit of the doubt.

Great outdoor cat houses
We live in Alaska and take care of a lot of feral cats. We place them in a wire house covered in tarps to protect them from the rain and snow. These houses with the heated mats are perfect for them and well used. We buy more every year.

Tiger, the Feral Cat Loves It! And After Nearly Three Years, He's Still Lovin' It- Update
I was skeptical at first as to whether the feral cat would enter the cat house -- but he did and he's now a couch potato inside! Our Bay Area winter temp is typically 45-55F, so we're not talking Canada here and the heated bed seems to meet Tiger's needs. I started by getting him used to the pad in our kitchen. Last year, I built a home-made shelter for him and he just didn't use it. I'm guessing that the heated pad in this house has made all the difference. When I first set up the A-frame cat house, under a deck, it got drenched. It's def not made for full outdoor exposure without modification.. The house was easy to take apart and dry off in the sun. After seeing how it is not waterproof, I set up the A-frame on a shelf and tilted it so rain would slough off. I also added a 'rain-fly' and made sure to keep the plastic sheeting away from the cat house--again, so the rain would stay away from the structure. I secured the rain fly/plastic sheets with some extra wood blocks. This has worked well. I'm including a few pics. So far, Tiger, who loves to come inside -- and is very sweet (he intimidates the other cats, so it's best that he stays out whenever possible), is spending a lot of time in his new home. I may do his laundry later today! Soon he'll be wanting room service - but he's had a hard life and this cat house has made his life a little better.Pros: A simple design, easy to clean, easy to take apart, spacious and easy enough to place a rain fly over.Cons: I thought it was a little pricey, it's not waterproof and will drench the insides if exposed to rain. I think it could have been designed a little better to keep the rain away from the two entrances. Also, for the price, it should have come with a rain fly, just like my trusty Coleman tent! After three years, the tent still functions as new. It sits under a deck and is protected from direct weather. One add'l change I made is that I have added a flannel sheet over the heating pad material. I change it regularly and thus keep the heating pad cover clean-ish. I've cleaned the plastic door/windows with automobile plastic lens cleaner. Tiger continues to love his shelter and barely leaves it except to come inside for food -- a big change from his feral hunting days! He now weighs nearly 30 lbs -- and he's happy. The vet says healthy too, so I continue to give his A-frame shelter a thumbs-up.

Great on a porch!
This was a great warming shelter for our feral cats when the temperatures fell below freezing. It works well on the covered back porch. It is easy to assemble and lightweight. It can accommodate four cats who like to snuggle up to each other. The heating pad doesn’t warm up until the cats are actually on it. It was fine on the covered porch during some high winds and rain. Not sure how it would hold up in an uncovered area.

Cute and well-made
This cat tent was super easy to assemble and a good size, even for a large or small dog. However, the floor is insulated and warmed by a heating pad, but the sidewalls are just fabric covered cardboard (?) and not at all insulated against the cold and wind. I planned to drape it with a thick blanket for my cats on my screened porch so they could still be outside some during the winter. However, neither of them would go into the tent! So, I had to return it.

Awesome product in all ways! But only expect one cat at a time to use them.
Hahahaha that photo MUST be photoshopped, showing two cats in one of these. Cats simply don't go in that mode. :P Territorial! What will actually happen is a cat fight. The one that wins gets the heated cat tent. But that is OK - these are awesome and a cat needs this much space to not feel "trapped" and actually use the tent. For that one cat that remains the tent heats up just like they say when the weight of the cat gets on them. Easy to assemble, sturdy once assembled. Washable cover on the heating pad (yes, you will have to, especially when an opossum decides the tent belongs to him/her) and replacement covers are available. I've used several of these (one per cat, see above ^^^) for many years. Even have thrown away and re-bought two after 6 or so winters, to get nice clean ones for the cats. The cats only really use these below about 45 F or so, I've noticed. But that works - went down to 10 F for a week here in the Texas back in 2001 and 18 F for several days recently.

Should have checked the voltage.....
Needed to buy a converter for the heat pad plug, which didn't work.... Just kept blowing the power! Had to buy another heat pad, which I think is actually inferior, so a bit disappointing Shame that the item couldn't have been made for the Australian market, if it is going to be offered here.
