While I found the ergonomics of the device a bit odd, once I accepted that, I found it to be a great tool. I have over 30 years in the HVAC industry and have used many a smoke tool to test and/or prove airflow direction in labs, etc. I wish I had this tool much sooner, as it certainly is easier than what I have used. I like the fact that the cartridges only ignite and smoke when you press the button, and that one cartridge goes a long ways. It's a fast startup and fast shutdown, no potential for burning you or anyone else. Very nice. I will certainly recommend to others in my industry. I don't think they mention it, but it comes with a neck lanyard, which is nice, so you don't have to figure out where you're going to put it while walking the job.

I like this smoke emitter because it helps me identify window and door leaks.

Very surprised at how well this works, especially for detecting leaks in an attic space/ducting. Perfect handheld size with lanyard helps when working in areas only an acrobat can get to.Only two very insignificant items I noticed. Neither of these detract from the functionality of this excellent product.1. Directions weren't completely clear on storage of the "smoke" cartridge after removal. Plastic caps necessary to save for storage?2. For my device, the switch for the lights gave very little resistance, "no click", when pushed. Easy to accidentally turn on if bumped at the right spot. Might not notice the lights are on if in the "red" state.Aside from those things, you can't go wrong with this one.

I purchased this to determine air flow for use in my scent work classes.I like the size; I wish the power button did not need to remain depressed while operating the bellows. I have some arthritic changes in my wrist, so it’s a bit uncomfortable to have to hold the button down during operation. Someone with smaller hands than mine (7.5”/20 cm) might find it t uncomfortable as well.I also wish the smoke had greater density, similar to a smoke match. This device emits smoke that’s a bit wispy - it disappears a little faster than I’d like.That said, its size allows me to get it down within about a half inch of the ground - not always possible with a smoke match - and no struggle to start it up in wind.

It’s just alright. I can make use of it, but barely. If you’re trying to use this to map airways for an HVAC unit, for example, then don’t buy it. The amount of smoke it release is simply not enough. Thins out super quick and thus becomes invincible. I just use it for establishing drafts on flues and 70% furnaces. I don’t use it for checking for duct leaks unless it is to pinpoint the source. Over a large area you can’t use it for that because, again, it dissipates too fast. Thermal camera for that.

It's easy to use and fits in almost any pocket. I've used this in several home Inspection conditions where a confirmation of an air leak was necessary for the report. I videotape mine so I can show the points of concern. The replacement cartridges are affordable easy to swap out and come in different scents. The built in light to aid in seeing the smoke is great! Very happy.

I purchased one to try, then bought a bunch more for my inspectors. These are great for showing air movement and leaks out of buildings when used in combo with a blower door. I have used 3 other hand held smoke generators plus smoke pencils, dust puffers and titanium tetrachloride puffers. This Cirrus product is better than all of them. Its cheap, portable, works at wider range of angles, has a consistent strong puff. The glycerin cartridges are a little spendy for what they are but I can forgive that.

Edit: I've stared at this useless tool in my box for years now. It does work great. But the cartridges dry out super fast. I didn't have that many uses on the tool and the cartridge in it and my spare both didn't work. (I kept the plastic cap on both) They cost too much to be useless...Original review: Purchased for commercial use. Great product, easy to use. Shows airflow well. I also use it to test fire alarms,( as long as there is no direct breeze). Caring company cares deeply about their product and service.
