Insightful and Powerful
If you are looking to understand your rage better, this book is a must. Not only are the explanations on point, the exercises and activities are really supportive. I would recommend this for anyone who has trouble expression both anger and rage. It clarified a lot of questions about how holding on to rage manifests itself in my day to day life. I love everything about this book and have already recommended it to my friends. If you are on journey to understand your inner child better, this is must have.

So glad I found this book! Lifesaver!!
Saw this book on a shelf innthe barber shop with my kids and decided to look here and get a copy- just from the title alone. It was used but in excellent condition just like a new copy. Im only a third way thru the book but it is just what I needed. Definitely for those of us who dont believe in therapy (and dont have time) and are trying to make sense of your past hurts and a not so great childhood. I've been angry about a lot of things that happened to me as a kid for a few years but now I'm realizing I need to get over this once and for all. Will do a final update when I finish.....#FingersCrossed

Reader, Beware!
I originally wrote a detailed review of this book several days ago, but it was never posted. I'm concerned that my honesty frightened those who choose which reviews to post. I'll keep this "safe":First, Ruth King is not a psychiatrist, psychologist, or even a counselor. She has a Master's Degree . . . but in what? She also, at her website, charges a small fortune for Life Coaching, although she is not a certified Life Coach. Please keep in mind that Ms. King started seven businesses before writing this book and then beginning her new book series.Second, this book was apparently intended for African-American readers, because the words that are capitalized and those that aren't, along with insinuations that certain races have more of a reason to have rage show a certain strong bias.Third, this book is not about rage. It is about anger. My daugher is a psychologist and explained the enormous difference to me. If you're angry, the cute little "tests" Ms. King invented might give you some insight, but if you actually suffer from rage, you'll only become frustrated with the questionairres, journaling, meditations, and other overly-simplistic suggestions found in the book. As my daughter said, "She gets people all fired up about their rage and then lets them down by neglecting to give them real-life advice about how to safely and appropriately release that rage."I read this book along with seven other people. It was our non-fiction book choice of the month. It received the average of one-half of one point, because one young woman got "bits of insight" from the first section. The rest of us found it questionable, uneven, unfinished, and potentially dangerous.Let the buyer beware.

Everyone should read this at least once
While this book was written for women I have recommended this book to men as well. I bought my own copy after reading 2/3rds of the book, I found it so incredibly relevant and helpful. Unlike a lot of other self-help type books out there, Healing Rage offers effective how to's that help one to release that old buried rage an truly heal. It's not a quick fix, but rather a new mindfulness of one's environment and triggers. I had only in recent months realized that I still carried pain and anger I thought had been effectively dealt with in counseling years earlier. This book is NOT only for childhood abuse survivors, I find that what I have learned from reading this book helps me to see others in a new light, understanding their unknown (to themselves) behavior and reactions to their own circumstances.

A Firm Believer
I have read Ruth's book and just received today, 10 more copies in the mail which I intend to give as Christmas gifts. There is no greater gift than personal healing, and Ruth is a gifted healer. Her book, her coaching, her workshops, her CD, I am a firm believer in all, and have experienced them all first hand. I recommend this book, without reservation, to ALL people. Rage does not discriminate, and neither does Ruth.I have tried, unsuccessfully, many times to connect to a counselor or therapist. Ruth is the first person I've found that is able to help me, profoundly, in a 1-hour coaching session. Call her a coach or don't, it doesn't matter, she is the real deal, and I'm a better person for having come across Ruth and her work.

One of the best little books out there
One of the best little books out there. It is targeted at women, but I've used this book with male and female clients. It helps uncover the core of one's rage and truly direct one's energies to a positive outcome.

Brilliant - potentially life changing
Reading this book I was excited and relieved - I may have found my answer, if I can apply it. I resonated with so much in this book - it made sense, and a beauty and gentleness came through to me. One section reduced me to tears speaking of rage "in its natural form", as being "neutral, neither good nor bad" and going on to speak in positive and even sacred terms about its healing possibilities. I felt "allowed" which I have not been, in so many ways in the past. There is much work to be done with this book, which for me will be the real challenge, as I know that am very good at taking in information but have great difficulty in inhabiting myself enough to apply it, but I have started and will take it slowly. I think this is an important book and will recommend it appropriately.
