Gateway Safety 449M StarLite Squared Ultra-Light Safety Glasses, Blue Mirror Lens, Gray Temple (Pack of 10)

I've used a pair of these safety glasses for years. Recently one of our large dogs enthusiastically greeted me after returning from a trip, knocking the glasses off my head, where his paws badly scratched the lens. Sadly the hardware retailer I bought it from no longer carried it. I finally found the glasses on amazon, though it took some digging, as I didn't know the name, only what the model looked like, and for some reason they never came up within the top search results, seemingly favoring slightly cheaper models, which I almost bought, until finally finding these. They cost a bit more, but they're worth it, IMO (assuming the praise doesn't result in the price going up, as so often seems to happen on amazon - these were about $28 a box at the time of purchase).I've used many of the cheaper varieties in the past, and have found them less effective, either due to wider templates being prone to snapping off, as well as obscuring peripheral vision, like when you need to check your blindspot while driving. Or lenses that don't cover your eyes as well. These lens might not hold up to the tough nails of a 95 pound dog jumping on them, but the frame came away unscathed from even that, and the lens has held up to years of chainsaw and pneumatic nailer use, not to imply that either nail or chain ever came in direct contact. But with a ballistic certification, which I was previously unaware of with my older glasses, I'd imagine it can handle just about anything thrown at it.My previous pair was either the smoke or the smoke with anti-fog. It was sold individually from a store display, so I don't know which. This time, buying a whole box of 10 pair, shipped from and sold by amazon itself, I opted for the mirrored blue, under the impression that the mirroring is supposed to be more effective when using the glasses as sunglasses. If anything, the minimal mirroring was my only disappointment with these glasses. When I opened them, I had to double check the box to be sure I wasn't sent the wrong model, as you can hardly tell there is any mirroring applied to the safety glasses. Certainly nothing that would have a dramatic impact in bright sunlight, which working in construction, is primarily what I bought them for. And certainly far from the mirrored sunglasses I've owned in the past, that are so reflective, you can't see the wearers eyes. These look pretty much exactly like they do in the picture on amazon, which I presumptuously took to be a digital mockup designed to show the nosepiece without having to have pictures from multiple angles. Still, they block as much light as my previous smoke lens, and the mirroring does seem to improve clarity by decreasing glair.Another feature of this model that I really like, is the rubberized nose piece, which doesn't slide down as bad from sweating. The glasses being very lightweight probably also helps that out. These are definitely my safety glasses of choice, shy of paying a premium for a product that's destined to be damaged. I only wish they made or amazon carried a model with darker lens for outdoor use, as medium levels of tinting seem rather pointless to me. If working in a shop, I always prefer clear or amber. I imagine 10 pair will last me awhile, though I'll probably give a few away and scatter others around various locations, so I don't have to go far when I forget my glasses. But I'd buy another box in a heartbeat, if they made a darker model, preferably with mirroring too, as I do like the added clarity they seem to provide.

I have worked outdoor manual labor for almost 20 years, and have been buying these the last 15!! Nothing in this price range comes anywere close to the quality and comfort of these glasses.

These glasses do a good job protecting from the sunlight as well as keeping any dirt in the air from getting into your eyes. I like them compared to many other glasses because of the mirrored material on the front as well as how comfortably they fit on my face. The only drawback about these glasses is that they are not very thick So if anything solid came in contact with them I am not sure that I could guarantee they would protect your eyes very well. Otherwise I'm very happy with them and I honestly think they are the most stylish safety glasses I've ever purchased. It doesn't hurt to look good while you work. Lol

I don’t normally write reviews on items but I decided to on this one. I like these glasses. I have used for a long time. Comfortable and do the job.But the problem is that I ordered a pack/box of 10 glasses. The box they came in even said Qt: 10 on it. I am not one of those people that bash every little thing about a product when I buy it. I have had two other orders through Amazon where they have sent the wrong product or sent the wrong size on another particular order.I’m just wanting to want people that it seems like there is a decline in Amazon’s organization and order execution. Thanks for reading. I rated the glasses at 5 star because I like them. But Amazon execution was terrible

I'm a union operator and run a hydro excavation truck so good safety glasses are a definite must have in my work! Especially with dirt and rocks flying out of a hole propelled by 3k psi water pressure!These glasses stand up to alot of wiping clean "with water" without scratching!I can use the same pair for 2 weeks where other brands might last 3 days! After using about 20 to 30 different brands over the years these are by FAR the clear winner!
