Space Station - 4K UHD - IMAX Enhanced

IMAX's Space Station 3-D (2004) is 47 minutes of 70mm, 30 fps stereo bliss. It has the deepest depth and most resolute resolution I've seen in any 3-D film. Every shot is layered for depth, and every shot is deep. The in-your-face shots are truly in your face. When an astronaut goes EVA reaches out for a handle on the station, his separation is so keenly felt the entire audience reaches out in the theater to take hold with him. It was actually filmed in outer space by the astronauts. When the astronauts are training in an under-water tank (on earth, that is) you feel the consistency and thickness of the water. Water has presence, and so does the suction of the black void that is outer space. SPACE STATION 3-D is a sensation-inducer. You actually feel the 3-D when watching this film. See it in the theater if you can. Call your local IMAX and DEMAND it. The physical sensation one gets from the three-story tall IMAX screen is not captured in the downsized blu-ray, unfortunately, but it's close. SPACE STATION 3-D is the best 3-D documentary ever made, and technically one of the best 3-D films ever made. It's all authentic. There's no CGI. The absence of CGI isn't noticed, the stereo photography is so good. Moreover, the IMAX blu-ray is the best 3-D transfer I've seen thus far. I don't see how it is possible to top it. Don't hesitate. BUY IT NOW.

I was initially a bit sceptical about ordering this as i`m from UK. Would it work on my ps3? How much extra would i pay for import taxes etc. well it works a dream in 2D & 3D. requested normal posting by snail mail, and it arrived 10 days earlier than dated on Amazon. picture quality is excellent, and looks amazing through a 47" LG 3D LCD TV. the film really deserves to be played through a cinema surround system. Sounds perfect through my 7.1 surround system :) everything in this film is awesome. quite a good few camera shots that i`ve never seen yet in all the NASA films ive downloaded from any source i could find. 3D really makes this film stand out and realise the accomplishments and sacrifices made to get where we are in space. if your interested in the shuttle/NASA or anything like that then its a definate purchase.

I read some reviews saying this is really boring. It's definitely not action packed from the beginning and I do wish there were more 3D images of just space, the Earth, the satellites, and the launch. There is a really cool 3D shot from the window of the shuttle upon takeoff where you get to see the beach zoom away and the Florida coastline appears, but the shot is only held for about five seconds. Awesome shot though...wish they would have held the shot all the way into space...that would have been incredible. Nevertheless, every time I have played this DVD for friends, they are amazed...or they are just making me feel good. But seriously, it's worth it. There are a couple of shots where the 3D is messed up, but it's only about 10 seconds. The beginning is not true 3D on the disc either, and since I've read that in the IMAX theaters, it was, it appears this is a coding error. But again, nothing that killed it for me. If you're interested in space and want to see 3D images of space, you'll get probably a total of five minutes of such images, but I think that's really cool.

For all bass fanatics get this cd. On chapter 1 about 5 minutes in there is a rocket launch of a Russian craft and it scared the heck out of me. I had forgotten I had the volume tuned up and wow! I'm still shakin.'

This 3-D Blu-ray has footage so crystal clear of astronauts floating in space thinly attached to protrusions of the Space Station that I cringed in my chair and felt a visceral terror come over me as I looked out at the vastness of space in which they were working. We're so fragile! The 3-D is overpoweringly real-seeming because I knew these scenes were actually shot at the Station and at the launching and preparation locales; I felt (though of course I knew better)I might be in danger of plummeting to the Earth so beautifully pictured below. Yes, this is a short film, but it's worth every penny for those who can give serious consideration to this amazing accomplishment of mankind. The scenes inside the Station, the many demonstrations of weightlessness, the occasional humor such as the weightless passing along of a woman along with the cargo as everyone (including the woman) smiled riveted my attention on the fact that this is an outpost of humanity in the vast isolation that surrounds us. How easy to feel small in that context. The scenes inside the Station are so clear, I felt I could reach out and touch things, a feeling that gave me a better understanding of the living and working conditions in such cramped space. This film and the 3-D Hubble film are ones I feel are proud and vital additions to my collection. This endeavor is a technical miracle, and the filming of it in such sharp detail is a blessing. That humans from different political divisions, philosophies and agendas could cooperate to bring this to pass is a strong and hopeful sign that humanity recognizes its essential homogeneity. Someday we may all be able to come together after all. I recommend this film highly if you want to feel what it might be like in space and are interested in man's progress to the stars. I viewed it on my 55" LG 3-D TV with passive glasses and with my home theater sound on. As we used to say in the '60's, "What a trip!"

Viewed on a new UHD TV, it's spectacular. It feels as though we were in space. The story is well-known so you're watching for the amazing views. It's even better in 3D which we purchased years after.

This is a thriller which does not rely on nonstop action, but rather is more in the tradition of the old thriller mysteries with suspense. There is certainly some action, but no gore. Rather than poking you in the eye with 3D it uses depth. Yes there is some popout where the boy throws a ball up into your face much like the paddleball scene in The House of Wax, but it integrates into the story naturally. The depth in many scenes contributes to the feeling that the hole discovered in the basement is really bottomless. Many 3D movies have shallow depth, which contributes to making people think it does not contribute to the story. The hole is a mystery which is eventually resolved. This movie is in the best tradition of thrillers and pays homage to the early 3D movies.

This is an absolutely magnificent presentation filmed in the IMAX format by astronauts and cosmonauts aboard the International Space Station. The viewer is provided with highly informative coverage, an unprecedented tour throughout the Station, plus various extravehicular space walks tethered to the Station, secured to the robotic arm, or as an independent human satellite maneuvering with a thruster-enabled back pack. It's not hard to almost visualize being involved in the mission. I would have gladly given this DVD five stars were it not for the horribly engineered audio mixing, unless I received a poor copy of the master. Tom Cruise's narration adds nothing of value, and is reduced to a whisper. What little can be heard above the absurd crashing, clashing or heroic "music" by Mickey Erbe and Maribeth Solomon is superfluous. I had to repeatedly turn up or turn down the volume depending upon whether the "music" was blaring or none was playing. Why can't a work of this magnitude be presented with minimal music that doesn't distract from the content? On the plus side was an astronaut speaking in clear though at times broken speech, due to the ISS-to-ground relay, a down-link problem experienced during several previous orbital missions. The special DVD features are not to be missed. Commentaries by the director, Toni Myers, and astronaut Marsha Ivins are superb. The Station tour is exquisite and will linger in the mind indefinitely. Overall, I recommend this DVD with the Cruise's narration and "music" cautions, but the visual impact is well worth the downsides. To have seen this in an IMAX theater would have been overwhelming. Finally, the views of Earth "below" are beyond description. We seldom see our planet in all its glory, so feast your eyes on where you live and it may forever change your perspective of this "oasis in the vastness of space."

This video is definitely a WOW product when it comes to 3D video. The content and filming is great. Beautiful to watch and extremely informative. I would say it's the best 3D non-fiction DVD I've ever seen.

El sonido es Espectacular, yo ví esta película en formato Imax Film hace muchos años en el museo del Papalote y recuerdo que me impresionó el Sonido cuando despegan las naves norteamericanas y rusas, lo ví en 3D, ahora solo tengo la oportunidad de verlo en 2D pero gracias a mi sistema de audio 5.1.2 se sienten las mismas vibraciones con el subwoofer en los despegues de las naves al despegar

Impresionante calidad de imagen y sonido, 4 K HDR e Imax, "IMAX ENHANCED" DTS-X, además de todo esto, audio en castellano. Muy recomendable.

sono rimasto sbalordito dalle immagini ma sopratutto dall'audio.c'e' una immagine che fa vedere la partenza del razzo e c'e' una esplosione dove addirittura ti senti i detriti che ti vengono addosso tanto e' realistica la scena.comunque IMAX si distingue sia per quanto riguarda le immagini e l'audio.lo consiglio a chi ha un impianto che possa permettere di avere imax Enhanced non perdetelo ne vale la pena... e buona visione
