Student Solutions Manual for Larson/Edwards' Calculus of a Single Variable, 10th Edition

Great book, so I wanted the solutions manual

This student solution manual helped me get through class. and helped me under stand my homework better.

I think the author of this solutions manual feels that too much "show your work" in his solutions will discourage readers like me, or predominantly students from doing the necessary "between-the-line" calculations to gain good understanding of the subject matter and the pre-requisite subject matter. But in my opinion he over-does that in many instances. Some of the "solutions' are nearly nothing more than "answers". Otherwise the solutions are generally excellent. I have only found a very few instances of the number of the answer not matching the number of the problem - or perhaps matching the problem from some previous text. The support people for the text have been very responsive to my pointing those out. In working about 1500 of the problems from the first half of the text I have found only two answers that are incorrect. In this case the support people have been totally non-responsive to my inquiries. I'm not sure why. On the issue of not "showing your work", were I a math text author, I would lean much more to showing the between the lines calculations. Otherwise I fear too many potentially good students might become too discouraged and bail out. I still give it three stars - reluctantly. But there are about 10,000 exercises - or 5,000 odd numbered exercises the 10th edition of this text.That seems to me to be worthy of a star to have such a rich set of exercises with answers and semi-solutions.

Clean, complete, well packed.

All of these exact same solutions are available for free from the publishers website. [...]. Don't waste your time or money. If you do buy this manual, then be informed the solutions are way too brief. Key steps are often omitted, including variations on the sections being worked. If you are stuck for any reason, don't expect this manual to reveal anything helpful. Its greatest use is in checking your answers on homework but then again, that can be done at calcchat.com. I will make an A in the course but that will be due to the guidance of my instructor, tutor and assistance available at the school. If you have those things and the internet available to you, don't buy this book.

It's brand new, the content is useful, but the price should be a little lower. I give it four stars.
