Get blown away!
This album is VERY loud, VERY aggressive, VERY evil, and GREAT! It's tempting to say "if you like QOTSA or Kyuss, etc, then you'll love this", but ... not necessarily! 13th floor is on Rated R as Tension Head, but this version is better, I think - less slick, and much more gutsy and emotional, (if that's a word one can safely use about Nick Olivieri!).Track 2, Shawnette is the star of the show for me. It has a super-powered spiky riff crunching behind, overlaid with the Olivieri scream - as though it was a preliminary sketch for No-one Knows, written whilst having the world's worst nightmare - superb. Much of the rest is more punk/thrash, and less stoner/melodic, and some, eg I want you to die, is quite ordinary. Simple Exploding Man is another masterpiece - an eleven-minute grind of heavy guitar and mixed vocals that will blow you utterly AWAY! You even get a reprise as the hidden track.Cocaine Rodeo itself is ... odd - a little piece of misogyny like an old-time redneck rag. However, it's very amusing, if a little out of place on this album.Kyuss, QOTSA, Fu Manchu, Dwarves, etc completists will want this, but it has plenty to offer those who just like heavy-heavy rock with an evil edge. If the only one of the above you own is Songs for the Deaf, then think twice, but if your fave tracks are Millionaire and Six-shooter, then buy this!

A pretty essential album for a Queens or Kyuss fan.
Featuring Nick oliveri and Josh homme from Queens as well as the original Kyuss and fu Manchu drummer Brant Bjork the lineup almost guarantees good things.Well the album is a weird mix of Stoner Metal sounding a little like Mudhoney ("Miss Mary Gets a Boob Job" reminds me a lot of Mudhoney) and Punk rock sounding a little like west coast legends Black Flag ("Uncle Tommy"). "Simple Exploding Man" is the central masterpeice of the album, sounding like Queens of the Stone Age on a very bad acid trip the song rolls on for a good 11 mins only to come back after the quirky "Cocain Rodeo" for another 4 mins of aural torture.13th floor will be familiar to Queens fans as it appears on rated R (granted a little less loose on the bottom end) as "Tension Head".The mix of Punk rock, Stoner metal and mudhoney style grunge does the leave the album lacking a real theme or feel other than Nick Oliveri's over the top aggressive vocals. However this album is great collection of songs for any hardkor Queens, Desert Sessions, Kyuss etc fans.
